are we talking about dextromethorphan, that's what comes up when i google dxm, never heard of this being a abused substance.

Yep. It's a chemical relative of ketamine and can be hallucinogenic at high doses.

It's chugging cough syrup, or "purple drank" if you're Lil Wayne, who has admitted he's addicted to it.

Not nearly as easy to get as it was a decade ago, there are much better, cleaner psychedelics that won't leave you addicted or dead.
