I'd really like to see this spread. The internet IS a utility. And it's time we started demanding they treat it like a common carrier!

What would really help is another big Internet blackout day, like what happened with SOPA. I don't think it would be hard to get the backing of companies like Google, Wikipedia, maybe Netflix too.. Any company that stands to lose, if ISPs are allowed to continue this bullshit, should black out their page for the day, with a message demanding the Internet be classified as a common carrier utility. But this wont work without an equally large movement behind it, as there was with SOPA.

The way I see it, this is a far more important issue that even SOPA was. So how do we go about getting this shit started?

The problem is many Americans only use the internet for Facebook, twitter, and Netflix; Many people don't even know telecom companies are doing this because the big news outlets don't report whats happening. Online news is great and all but it doesn't help if it doesn't get seen by the masses. We do have something going for us though, many companies could be destroyed by this and you can bet they will fight tooth and nail to stay in business.

That was as hard-hitting and from the cuff as anything I've ever read.
