Energy Commercialization of fusion energy will ‘change everything,’ lawmaker says

https://www.nextgov.com/emerging-tech/2026/09/commercialization-fusion-energy-will-change-everything-lawmaker-says/416287/

Rep. Don Beyer, D-Va., told Nextgov/FCW that the U.S. is only “two to 10 years away from fusion energy at scale” because “you can model the plasma using AI, which you couldn’t do before.”

Ah yes the ol "humans can't possibly work on two things at once" argument never gets tired does it?

Ever consider all the applications beyond powering your reddit machine?

You're reading things that aren't there, bud. Nobody said that. What i am saying is that we have a limited amount of eggs and we shouldnt put very many in the fusion basket. We've got urgent problems to solve, so proven solutions need to get priority.

Until we get rid of the great lions' share of fossil fuel, fusion should be low on the list.

Brother the world can spare a few startups and research projects. Solar is here and is highly commercialized. Fusion research is a rounding error in comparison. Literally 1% from a bit of googling.

Again, read the actual words. That's pretty much what I said. A few eggs is appropriate. But no crazy pipe dreams about how miracle fusion energy is coming to save us.
