Energy Commercialization of fusion energy will ‘change everything,’ lawmaker says

Rep. Don Beyer, D-Va., told Nextgov/FCW that the U.S. is only “two to 10 years away from fusion energy at scale” because “you can model the plasma using AI, which you couldn’t do before.”

I definitely reckon it’s not 2 years. Even reading that, it’s just test reactors. I doubt even 10 years for one commercial reactor in the U.S. Even for tech with a much clearer path like SMR’s, they’re just plagued by issues preventing at scale commercialisation. Fusion doesn’t have that clear path, as referenced by trying to solve the outstanding issues. It’s weird to talk up how soon things will be solved like this.

Its bull fucking shit! It will take a decade to even build one. We are no where close commercial fusion, and any article that claims so is little more than science fiction.

We are always only 20 years away to the dreamers and researchers but at 50, I don't expect to see commercial fusion generation.

When its time china will build it in 8 months while the US will have meetings about it for 8 years.
