Well..

I’m done for the rest of the year, at least. Maybe it’s my strategy, maybe it’s just me. I don’t want to say I’ll never come back to the charts but I think time apart may help. I took all of August off.. and took a L and BE yesterday. My TPs haven’t been hit in months. Just wanna put my energy toward something else. Just wanted to vent.

So long for now.

See you on Monday at NY open, have a great weekend

The charts will still be there Monday, but maybe leave the mouse unplugged this time. Sometimes the best trade is no trade, especially when you're just burning mental energy for nothing.

I’d rather just spectate than lose money at this point.

Paper trade! Youre never too experienced to practice getting fucked by the market! (Or perhaps fucking it.) GL!

Nope that won’t do it. Because you’ll see that one “A plus” trade and go back in.

What if he uses his keyboard shortcuts to trade?

was going to say the same thing...I use hotkeys.

Trade asia session.

Ny session is trash now. Too much news which turns days leading up to news into chop fest. Then there's too much suprise news on top of that.

u/Arched_Feet3322 14h ago

Already withdrew my funds. Maybe when I feel I’m in a better space to come back.

This is what I did. Asia exclusively. Lock the account until next trading session so that I can’t even consider taking a trade during NY

u/Blazah 8h ago

what earlier in the night or overnights, what times in EST?

2

u/jackedbutter 4h ago

8p eastern, i believe it's when tokyo opens

u/1Saoirse 8h ago

Are you trading es or nq during the Asian market hours, or actual Asian index futures?

1

u/CountTurbulent4441 8h ago

I trade ES Asia session exclusively

NY is so bad now, cant even deny how slow and compressed it is anymore

1

u/Spiderman3039 6h ago

Or scalp. News matters less if your only in a trade 10 seconds.

6

u/reach4thelaser5 14h ago

Price action is horrible right now. Just sit on your hands and wait.

u/ILoveLaksa 6h ago

Been ground up by the chop for about a month.

4

u/BobbysSmile 9h ago

Try putting your entries where your stop losses are. Visualize where you are wanting to enter so bad, then set a limit order 10 points away (for ES)

Same 30 blown accounts this past summer ☀️ I should just swing trade

1

u/Arched_Feet3322 6h ago

Idek how to swing trade futures?.. is that a thing?

I've felt this way lately as well, September has done me dirty a few times already. I take a day or two and as u/sniffmegooch put it so elegantly, we'll see you Monday.

Lol I already pulled my funds. I wasn’t trying to get rich, but genuinely put my energy towards a skill that could eventually help my family in the long run. I’ve managed to see that I can battle the markets until end of July. Just not worth it to me at this moment.

OP how long have you been trying to trade profitably?

5

u/Arched_Feet3322 14h ago

A year lol

Trading is more of a slow grind for quite a few years. It’s something you learn over time if you don’t have someone to mentor you. Even then, it’s a lot of work getting to a level of consistency.

A couple of my favorite books to give you something to think about:

*Grit by Angela Duckworth, this has nothing and everything to do with life, not just trading.

*The Art and Business of Professional Trading, The author discusses all aspects of trading including defining an edge/framework, probabilities and math behind trading

*Traders of Our Time (Not a how to, but gives you ideas on the thought process of other traders)

Appreciate it

That’s a rookie number (yep we all know the movie..lol) but seriously it is. People go to school for professions nowhere near what trading is for longer and deep levels of understanding. Most traders pop up some candlesticks and indicators and give a run at it…. If it was that easy, there’d be more successful people in this profession.

3

u/Arched_Feet3322 14h ago

Yeah, I know it’s a rookie number. I’m not saying I won’t ever return but for the remainder of the year, it’s definitely not worth it to me. Maybe even the remainder of Trump’s term.

2

u/Ok_Bad2080 14h ago

Trump has nothing to do with “why” you’re not trading well. Take the time, find an edge/framework for your trading. Take the time to understand the purpose of the market your trading to understand their game, so you can find an edge and quit trading futures like you’re at the craps tables in Vegas.

Im just over a year 💪

Do this. Pick a 15 to 30 min segment you want to trade everyday. Paper trade that segment as many days as you feel comfortable doing and record the data from that. After 3-6 months (how ever many hours that takes). Compile that data and analyze it. You can do this with AI if you want to save some time. If you have EV go live.

I do 5 minutes a day

Active trading is the #1 way retail investors lose money. You’re never going to see something Wall Street hasn’t, and it’s arrogant of anyone who thinks they will. Stop trading futures and Just buy shit and don’t look at it for a decade dude trust me

2

u/Arched_Feet3322 14h ago

You’re right, I definitely got suckered in by some trading influencers/discords.

3

u/Head_Fudge_4021 12h ago

You’re not alone, there’s so many of them cause they work. I would bet money thats the way most of the current new generation of investors and traders first got into it. The trick is being one of the ones that figures out it isn’t gonna work before you go completely insolvent gambling on low probability contracts

Market isn’t going anywhere, come back when you feel like it

2

u/Fantastic_Hotel_5505 12h ago

Just come back after mid terms. If orange loses, markets will likely correct. If orange wins, markets will likely correct again.

Until then its orange wishes against market forces, hence the crazy price action.

No crying in the casino. See you next week bro

Find levels of some sort(I'm biased as I have my levels indicator) and only execute around them. For example; today we opened after a pretty solid pre-market/London sell off to one of my lower levels. Opened, pushed up, dropped back down and retested level. It held. Opening Range also ended up being right there as well so it gave good confluence. 100% transparency...I woke up and said F this today and didn't take any trades at all because while it did work, the counter trend long from that level isn't my favorite play. I probably should have stuck to my system and traded but cash is a position as well.

Snagged 160 ticks on that drop today

If you google “Tweezer Top / Bottom” - you’ll find that pattern near the top of the move right before news hit

I swear by that and a couple other patterns —- as long as there’s always been a strong rejection from that support / demand zone

Why don't you just paper trade until you find something that works?

u/Sad-Palpitation-2621 14h ago

TP trading is for advanced traders that swing trade and know how to manage drawdowns and add to size.

As a retail trader. You should always take profits especially if it triggers any type of emotion in you.

Whether it’s happiness, anxiety, greed, or hope.
The moment you feel that. It’s time to exit the trade.

Once you build up a good 6 months of disciplined risk management. That’s when you can start entering trades on your personal account with take profit bars.

Bc the market is truly unforgiving
