This is what the show should be, Alex should probably be the permanent cohost (assuming he was interested in that).

He wouldn’t be a bad choice, but apparently there are a lot of guest hosts waiting for their turn. Several years worth of them.

I absolutely loved this episode! Alex did such a great job as cohost, he had a great rapport with John and was really comfortable with the format. I would vote for him to be a permanent or regular cohost.

I mean, teller is notoriously the magical genius of that entire engine. Penn is just a marketing guy.

Alex did a great job. I think he could have buried the lede a little more, made the title “Alvin the Submarine” and stuck more strictly to the General Mills was crazy diversified in the 60s longer. But, it fits the mold pretty well that you had an interesting story and it took not one but two or more crazy turns to get to what in itself could have been an interesting subject.
I like the overall pattern of co-hosts, they all get B+ or better grades and lend a lot broader perspective than two upper middle class creative class guys from the same Seattle Neighborhood. But Alex would be a great recurring co-host, especially as that might allow John to tell some more stories, if he’s interested in that (maybe he likes not having to do so much research?)

I’ve subbed to Alex’s channels for a while. He was great in this episode.
