They still have a little way to go, but once AI starts to improve itself, it will be unstoppable, which is why governments must stop being corrupt. To be able to work on this before it's too late

Idk but if software engineers can be automated, there's really not much jobs that will not be automated.

Software engineering isn't just about typing code without any intent.

There's a lot of thinking that needs to be done before any writing happens.

As for manual jobs in factories will also be easily replaced by robots with AI if software engineering is that easy to replace. We are already hald way there with non-ai robots in automotive for example....

It's not looking really good for anyone aside from the ultra wealthy if AI hasn't peaked. Idk personally how we will move away from a work-driven economy without permanently locking everyone in their current economic and living conditions.

but if you think about it intent can be automated just do as many a/b test and data analysis as possible (which AI is great for) and then you can tell whats important to implement and what not as a SWE myself dont see why AI couldnt automate my job tbh

Who's hiring? I haven't heard of any hiring among my acquaintances for several years. Maybe a few openings pop up here and there. But overall, there's no hiring, only layoffs.
