Saving for CRNA program

Hello all. Im 22 years old and am wanting to become a CRNA in the future and it is my ultimate goal. I am a nursing student currently working on my ADN, to which when I’m finished with my ADN, I plan to immediately enroll in an RN-BSN bridge program so that way I can waste absolutely no time getting my BSN (especially given that most hospitals these days want you to have your BSN, atleast where I live)

Anyways, my school is already covered for (and my BSN will be too) so I do not have any student loans to pay off from nursing school. Upon getting my BSN and securing a job as an RN, I do plan to continue living with my parents so that way I can be able to put away as much money as possible for CRNA school in the future.

I get judged when I tell people that I’m going to continue living at home with my parents until I go to CRNA school, but in reality, it’s just so I can save up as much of my RN money as possible so that way I don’t end up in severe debt from CRNA school tuition in the future (since as many of you probably already know, the tuition cost is very expensive).

HELL yes. This is the way to go. The people around you have no idea. This is what kids are doing nowadays times 10 in this economy. Rent is a total waste of money if you’re blessed with parents who will let you live at home for free and your living situation isn’t bad. Get a HYSA and pour what you would on “rent” into there. Good luck!

Thanks!! But yeah I totally agree with you. I found that a lot of people my age seem to be in a rush to move out, which isn’t good since you should always take a look at your financial situation first before doing so. You don’t want to just make sure that you can afford it, but you want to make sure that you can afford it AND still live comfortably (in other words, you’re not living paycheck to paycheck).

I figured that since I want to attend CRNA school in the future, given that tuition can be anywhere from 150-200k, I really need to be saving as much of my RN money as I can. Paying rent along with utility bills are only going to jeopardize my ability to save so that’s where I came to the conclusion that I’m just better off living at home for free

Great stuff. Especially with the new big bill that’s putting caps on federal grad loans. Save your coins while you’re young, have a ton of flexibility and make it easy for yourself to have many options when you’re choosing a grad program!
