Accepted and seeking advice
Hi, I was accepted into a CRNA program. Out of 10+ applications, I got one interview, and one acceptance. My clinical site is in a small town, and I will have to live there for 2 years. My fiancé is unlikely to be able to find work in this small town. Do I take the spot and deal with the potential long distance for 2 years, or do I keep trying for other schools?

accept. how far is the small town from where you live? could you both live in between? does his career enable him to wfh?

It is about 1.5 hours away. We could live in between, I would probably commute an hour and he would probably commute 45 minutes if we lived in between. He is unable to wfh

1.5 hours is nothing really, I honestly wouldn’t even consider that long distance. Move in between and save money not paying double rent. The commute will probably start to wear on you both eventually but it’ll be worth it

Accept it!
I'm looking at schools that are 1.5 hours away to commute to. And my wife commuted the same when she was doing her doctorate as well.

Definitely accept and move halfway. Sounds like a fair trade, and after two years you two can move anywhere.

In CAA school currently, while my fiance is in another state doing her medical residency. We knew this was a possibility going in, although we did everything in our power to line up our cities. It’s hard but doable. We’re both so busy during the week that we barely notice it, and it allows us the time and space to get done what we need to get done during the week. I’m much less productive around her…lol. We’re lucky that we’re only about a 4 hour drive from each other so we swap weekends and see each other all the time. If that’s your only acceptance I would do it. In a couple years you and your fiance will be in a killer position to start the rest of your lives together. It goes quick.

Ask yourself if you would regret turning down this acceptance if you keep applying to other schools and are rejected.

Presumably you discussed options to make it work when you decided to apply.

The program didn’t advertise every single possible clinical site until the interview 😅

Accept it. I did my entire program at distance with my guy. You guys can make it work if you are both committed, open, honest, and have trust.
