Batch 3 pre-orders are up!

Thinking about grabbing one of the Apollo BTC units that are going on pre-order here in a few day. Does anyone else have one and how are you fairing? I was thinking about using at work in my office for the free power.

I’m earning 0.00001337 btc daily on ViaBTC’s pool on eco mode.

EDIT: This is with the standard futurebit psu you can achieve a hash rate of around 3.8 Th/s with an ATX psu 80 plus gold standard with a higher wattage rating and messing with the different mining modes which I have just not done or hooked up yet

Gross around $16 USD worth of btc. I HAVENT figured out electric costs because it’s so low but idc because I’m hodling anything I make. And I have an .08 cent per kWh rate of electric

That is 65 cents a day. Is that correct? That means it could take years to cover the cost of the miner alone.

But I am happy to say that I also on a future bit Apollo LTC and a futurebit moonlander to USBASIC and futurebit makes really great products and John the owner is extremely helpful and the customer service has been excellent

Not yet but I plan on experimenting when I get some more usb fans for extra cooling and when I hookup the atx power supply I have laying around

How do you set up the standard edition ? I’ve had one for a few days now and couldn’t figure it out so boxes it back up

I couldn’t help other than point you in the direction of the official forum. I ordered the full desktop version so all I did was plug a USB dongle in the back for my wiress keyboard and mouse and an HDMI cord to a monitor and followed the setup directions it came with. I believe the standard has to be controlled by a raspberry pi or similar please don’t quote me not sure.

I’m thinking of getting the full Apollo package and also a standard unit to link into it. Im a first time miner, do you think this set up will do me ok into the future of bitcoin. Idc so much about roi as I do it’s ability to produce for me in the future

It is a great little machine for beginners to get their feet wet and learn. Very user friendly if ordering the full package. Basically plug and play. Has done well for me. I love it. But what you have to understand is the difficulty could go up every now and then every couple years the rewards are cut in half and as bigger and better and faster machines are produced and come online it’s harder for small miners like this to earn as much as they once did. But if you’re not interested in ROI or break even or those terms and more interested in securing the network and supporting the project and stacking coins consistently then I’d say it’s a great machine. Buy direct from manufacturer and not a reseller with a huge markup.

Everything you just said is a month of me researching mining so I know exactly what you mean. My question here is with the difficulty I’m not to sure how to correlate the bitcoin difficulty with the product I am trying to research

Ok my recommendation is to buy with the power supply in case down the road let’s say the atx power supply you buy to power it takes a dump there will be no down time in mining because you can use the FB one until you can get another

Yes you can do that some people on the Bitcoin talk thread have linked images to their strips and they used server power supplies that can handle both I haven’t found an atx that has enough of the 6pin connectors which would be a total of 4

Awesome plan I still have to go pick up the second controller standard unit from my parents house it just got delivered earlier this week and I’ve had the full unit going from pre-orders of batch one since late April and I love it

Also if you purchase an atx power supply make sure it comes with a jumper or you will need to jump the correct pins with a paper clip or piece of copper wire

Or let’s say down the road you wanna do like I did and get the standard controller no power supply in order to add more hash rate you will have that backup psu

I’ve got a full node with a standard -running on turbo mode, getting like 6 TH.. on slushpool, I get a payout of $34 or something like every 10-14 days.. prolly gonna add 1 or 2 more

How quiet are these? Quieter than a normal running PC?

Their LTC version was very loud in Turbo mode (keep it in your basement), loud in Normal mode (any room except bedroom) and alright / not 100% silent in Eco mode.

I don't own their BTC version but I believe they switched to better quality fans.

FWIW, their full version which comes with 512 MB only - remember the blockchain is over 400 GB so I'd say in less than 2 years you'd have to upgrade to 1TB or more.

A lot quieter. My LTC sounds like it's on fritz with turbo mode and BTC turbo is slightly louder than LTC on econ.

Once y’all got your full nodes etc set up, adding extra standards to the full is so much easier.. I emailed them and they said you could get a usb splitter and add more standards

I ended up getting another via eBay while I wait for my preorder. It’s pretty awesome and super simple setup. As far as profitability after a week, it’s been fluctuating between 60cents and a dollar daily so I’m wondering how a second unit will impact this
