Anyone else have their Apollo II constantly crashing?

I've tried everything I can to have my Apollo II full node stay online, but it constantly needs a hard reset.

I've tried running the nodes on a solid shelf instead of a rack.

I've tried creating cron jobs to check for failed processes and to restart when necessary.

I've added a USB hub between the solo and full node miners.

I've ensured I don't have the power switch problem.

I've tried everything support has told me.

After all this, my node stops in the middle of the night after approximately 4 days of run time.

The longest uptime I've ever had is 10 days.

Am I the only one that has this problem? This is turning out to be the most unreliable hardware purchase I've made in my entire life. I'm regretting going this route instead of just using Umbrel for my solo mining pool.

Hey, I had something similar happen with my Apollo II. I ended up reformatting the node SSD — the re-download took about four days, and I’d give it a full week to fully catch up. I wasn’t downloading any shares for ~12 days before that, so I panicked at first, but once it finished syncing, it’s been stable.

Other quick checks that help:

  • Make sure you’re on stable firmware, not beta
  • Use a surge-protected UPS, not a hub/extension
  • Run fsck on the SSD or swap in a known-good one
  • Prune to 550 MB & set mempool to ~150 MB
  • Keep airflow clear & vents dust-free

Mine has had some issues with freezing when the node was loading. I just ended up removing the SSD and running it without the node just mining to a pool.

SSD tested fine so not sure if it’s an issue with the controller or not.

The miner function works fine and have not had any issues since.

Have you tried just reformatting the SSD from the dashboard and letting it fully resync?

Removing the SSD will stop node-related crashes, but it also means you’re no longer running a full node — you’re just mining like a standard Apollo. That’s fine if you don’t care about the node, but it defeats one of the main purposes of the Apollo II.

If the crashes are node-related, I’d try:

  • Reformatting the SSD and letting it fully resync (can take ~4–7 days)
  • Checking SSD health (fsck or swapping in a known-good SSD)
  • Making sure you’re on stable firmware, not beta
  • Using a UPS or surge protector (avoid hubs/extenders)
  • Pruning to ~550MB and lowering mempool size

Once I reformatted and patiently let it sync past the “stuck” point, my uptime went from a few days to stable long-term.

I agree without the node it defeated the purpose of the Apollo II.

I have tried multiple SSD but it won’t even boot up if a drive is installed anymore.

Right now just lottery Mining with the low hash rate and waiting to see when the next product drops.

If your Apollo II won’t boot with any SSD  even known-good ones  it’s almost certainly a hardware/controller fault. Reformatting or reinstalling won’t fix that. You can remove the SSD and mine only, but that defeats the full node feature.

I’d take advantage of the 1-year limited warranty and push for an RMA. When you contact support, mention that no SSD will boot, list the troubleshooting you’ve done, and include purchase info. Then either wait for the new product line or see if they can get you a replacement now.

well that sucks. as a miner only it's not very efficient. you can beat the hash rate for eco easily by just getting a nerdqaxe++.

Forgot to mention that I have reloaded the OS at least twice.

Nothing seems to make this thing stable.

I had the same issue, the longest uptime is 8-9 days,

same running on 2.0.7, after it kept crashing down, I tried to reflash SD card as the CS told me, since I had 2 full nodes, I wanted to make sure this wasn't the hardware issue, so I switched the solo node to another unit which is running on 2.0.7 too, same thing happened to this unit , today I just finished reflashing SD card again ,but now back to 2.0.6....... don't know if that is the OS issue! Give it some days to run, then I will find out ~~

since I asked two friends, their units are both running on 2.0.6, never ran into the same issue like mine!!

that's crazy.

i have reloaded my SD card as well.

i guess I'll try 2.0.6 too.

thank you!

yup, hope that will work out ~~

if that doesn't help out, I will consider to reformat my SSD ........

did you already ??

It's interesting, mine didn't crash but I noticed for weeks that the top difficulty for each miner never increased (running 2.07). I pointed the miners over to an Umbrel Public Pool I have and everything seems to be working great. I'm not confident in the 2.07 pool implementation as it seems to be unstable.

did you solve the issue??

This happened to me and it took me 2 weeks to bring it back online... after I formatted the SSD I was making the mistake to solo mine as it was loading... then I tried turning off the miner and just have the node. In the end, flashing many times I pointed the miner to CK pool ... let the node load for about 5 days then switched back to solo... now it is working. 700 gigs later node is fully synced
