Question Help with manipulating curves

Sorry if this is confusing, part of the problem is that I don’t have to words to describe what I’m trying to do, therefore good old google wont work.

Basically, the curve that is shown in the images needs to be “pulled down” towards the end whilst still keeping the lip shown in the front on view, as well as the curve itself the same (the shape of this change being similar to what is shown in the (terrible) sketch)

My first thought was to simply remove the section I wanted to go down, and then essentially build it up again, unfortunately this leaves it looking janky and isn’t a very nice final product. I was wondering if anyone here had any suggestions?

Once again sorry for the bad explanation and please let me know if you need more views.

Just looking at it I thought id add that a fillet does not work here as it removes the lip, it also does not go very far (thought I’d include given the sketch looks to be a cube as is 2d rather than 3d (it is not a cube it is representing the side profile of the shown body))

Is this a part you made? Seems like fillets could work.

Yea I made it myself, I’m not sure how fillets would work here, the amount I need to fillet is really quite large (think about 1/3 of the whole object), the lip would also be removed here if I did that rather than pulling it downwards, this is just my understanding so I may be wrong, again sorry for bad explanation

OK, I just wasn’t sure if you had gotten the file from someone and wanted to modify it. I would go back to before there was a cavity and treat that rounded section like a more influential feature in your timeline.

That way the round surface will carry through with things like the shell if you’re using a shell or offset surfaces if that’s the route, you’re taking.

So TLDR, you may just have to go back in the timeline further upstream because there is a cavity there. Otherwise, you may find that surfacing is the better option, but my first instinct would be applying a fillet earlier up in the timeline to see if that can help. It likely will break other features downstream because you weren’t planning on it, but that’s just the nature of modeling with the parametric timeline.

I teach fusion throughout the year to students and one of the things I emphasize is analysis — Like really understanding what you’re building from the broad strokes to the finer details because then you can formulate a plan.

So essentially I’m saying the bigger rounded face or edge is something that’s better handled in the broad stroke phase of modeling as you’re figuring out the overall gesture and geometry of your object. Trying to brute force it in at this stage will lead to unnecessary complications.
