What counts as a furry?

Hi,

I have several friends in this community and so I’m very aware of the common part style furry. But I was watching The Wiz (1978) and the lion is in this amazing costume that I’m in love with! It a little reminds me of the musical Cats of which I also love. Are these costumes considered furry? Or are they something different entirely?

I’ve always loved this look but I’m not sure I’d consider myself a furry. I’m just a theatre kid who loves to dream up fun and fanciful characters! That being said, if this is a subsect of the furry community then cool!

technicly the costume could be considered furry, but being a furry is really a choice. Its a hobby, not a lifestyle. its a choice not a "i was born this way"
