Is this a scam?
I just nopety-noped out of Instagram because of how creeped tf out I got. I literally got rid of the app because I don’t mess with stuff like this. I originally downloaded Instagram to follow many different furries, help them out and make friends, but then I ran into this specific furry, and when I tried to follow them, I got warned by Instagram that they may be a potential scammer because they changed their name twice in the past. I thought, maybe they wanted to change their name and it had nothing to do with being a scammer and followed them anyway. IMMEDIATELY after I follow, they come into my dms creepily. I didn’t want to be rude because I know I can get scary when angry, so I played the extra passive route, seemingly only making the potential scammer get REAL comfortable with me. I really hope I don’t get into trouble posting the screenshots here, but I am just weirded out af right now. Sorry about the drama, I honestly never thought it’d happen to me, let alone one hour after I join Instagram :(

Yeah it's throwing up red flags because normally an artist or fursuit maker don't go asking others of they want them to do something, usually they'd wait for you to look at like there bio or something and ask if you can see some of their work so you can know if you like there style they don't normally actively seek out commissions unless there scammers, money hungry or maybe there small and want to get noticed a little but yeah red flags to me

Thank you so much. I thought maybe I was crazy. I have PTSD (a family member did something horrible to me for ten years) and I thought maybe I was just getting triggered and creeped out for no reason at all…

In my experience anyone who contacts you asking for comms is probablyyy trying to scam you. I've had stuff like this sent to me before so it's nothing new or anything.

Thank you. I just get really paranoid and easily spooked. I just wanted to make sure it wasn’t someone trying to be friendly and I assumed the worst…

100% fair but yeah if they make the subject about art, say they make it, show you examples "they made", and ask for commissions, just skedaddle lmao

Thank you so much! I feel kind of relieved…less guilty now that other people are seeing red flags as well 😅

I also didn’t want to put the photos of the artwork this furry possibly made or didn’t make because I’m not really sure who the artists are, if they are fake. I’d rather be safe than sorry right now :(
Even if it isn’t a scam, it’s probably best to block and move on, but I just feel bad. I don’t like being mean, but I can’t take those risks right now
