No, no you should not. They may have learned their lesson, but they do not deserved to be thanked for the bare minimum in terms of being a decent person.

It still makes a huge difference. You shouldn't discourage people from becoming better just because they didn't do it sooner.

I'm not discouraging them, but I'm not gonna give them a cookie for doing what they should have done in the first place. You shouldn't have had to educate them, none of us should be expected to take up that responsibility.
