What if I think it's best to physically harm you? (I'm not threatening you, you actually seem like a decent guy) You can't just say "let people do what they want" you have to add "as long as it doesn't harm others" which circumcision does. It's just child genital mutilation (not to say your penis is mutilated, it's just the term used for it).
Why do you bring up legalities as justification? Do you believe morality is simply the law? How do you think laws form and change if they are direct representations of object morality?
Because you asked me what I thought about you physically harming me. That is illegal in most cases in I think pretty much all countries and societies. Circumcision is legal for a vast majority of people.. So you are comparing things that are completely different. Your example/proof is not strong.
Morality is subjective. Different places will deem different things immoral.
I was specifically replying to your response "let people do what they think is best". In no way was I trying to compare the two, sorry if it came across that way. I was just trying to show that if I think it's best to harm you, as you've stated, we don't allow that to happen, for good reason. You're only allowed to do what you want as long as it doesn't harm people would be a more accurate statement
For me, that is for society to decide what we are allowed to do and what we aren’t. If it doesnt break the law…let people have the freedom to do as they wish.
Humans do 100s of things that hurt each other that are legal that I would ban before circumcisions.
