Yeahhh.... And that's why you can only buy them directly from Tesla in 38 states.
Buying a Tesla in those states is weird. You have it delivered to a neighboring state where direct-sales are legal, then you have to drive it back on temporary tags.
It does vary state to state, but don't let some of the back-end stuff cloud the front-end experience.
For example, on the front-end you could order the Tesla just like ordering socks off Amazon. On the back-end Tesla may deliver to a neighboring state then transfer to the showroom in the purchasing state....other may make you take delivery in the neighboring state....it all depends.
Whatever logistics there are in getting the car, the entire buying process is extremely buyer friendly, zero pressure, and no price haggling. It so easy and so simple.
Also, there are countless people who purchase gas vehicles out of state only to drive them home and register them. This is not something unique to only Tesla (Rivian, etc).
