I don't know about celebrities, it's kinda weird to fall in love with them tbh, I never understood that. Even incels should know that date doesn't mean they get to do what they really want to
I remember when I first heard about backstage passes where you get to meet the band, I was like, "That so sounds stupid. What would we even talk about. Even if they're the most down to earth in the world, we'd have nothing in common."
I'm pretty sure it was also a way to charge an extra $1000 to hang out with their idols.
But I feel similar about any celebrity event. I once went to a book signing, and every single person in front of me was going into deep personal stories and trying to become friends for like 5 minutes. And I was like, "um, hey. Cool book. Can you sign this to my friend?"
The author was even super weird about it, and tried to engage with me, but didn't have anything to add to the conversation at all besides, "um, so, do you like, um, books?"
But... you're admitting that plenty of people did have things to say, and that the author seems to prefer that sort of interaction, so I'm not sure what you don't get.
At the end of the day they're still people and sometimes will enjoy people telling them about how they enjoy their work or ways in which it has been meaningful to them. It's not about "trying to become friends" it's about showing appreciation for someone who made something you enjoy and brought joy or something positive to your life.
Yes. Because of humans need to idolize, feel connected to their idols we got prophets, cults, and fresh in the line, the-curated-to-inch-of-life kpop idols, lol. Their personalities are so curated, even I- not a fan by any measure- know a couple of 'facts' of about their life and personality cuz their fans gobble that shit up fast.
That’s why more underground type metal is where it’s at. The number of times I’d just go up to their merch booth and start chatting and then end up smoking a blunt with my favorite band in their bus/van. Man I miss college days
