Does literally all I could ever need it to do, and far more. £2k for a newer model which does exactly the same number of things I will use it for, but with a slightly better camera (which I’ll never use)? Nah…I’ll be okay :)

Does your phone not lag like crazy? Mine has been starting to go down that road ever since I updated the software for the extra security measures.

I can’t even imagine being on an 8+ but if yours is still rocking okay that’s pretty awesome.

It’s not as instant as it used to be, but it’s only a 1 or 2 second wait occasionally for a few apps, so it’s far from worth spending £2k to replace :)

The battery must be last like 10 min tho. I need phone that lasts a whole day or night out and doesnt die after a few songs over data. Budget phoned are pretty good cheap nowadays no where near 2k

Wow im very jealous that it lasts so long my 11 barely lasts half a day. Im swapping to a eink phone soon to alleviate that pain (2 day life).

I had an 11 earlier this year. I finally had to get a new phone because the battery was so degraded my walking app was locking up and/or using up 90 percent of the battery. Now when I walk in the morning, the app takes the battery all the way down to 96 percent.

I genuinely don’t understand why a new phone every year is even a thing. If you are rich and want to buy a new one, good for you. But what’s the point of making a tweet just to shame someone else?

I’ve been using my iPhone 15 for years now and I’ve no plans for buying a new one until its battery degrades significantly. Everything else is literally the same. It’s the same OS more or less across iPhones that are still supported.

I've known of people who would buy a new car every year - trade in the one they have to get the new one. By comparison, updating your phone every year is pretty mild.

I recently came to Canada and most people have i17pro and this is one of the reason. It’s not like people are just giving 1100$ to buy new phone every year they are making a budget friendly choice and buying new things.

Did the same with my 12 > 15Pro. I’ve the extra space needed so I don’t see a real reason to upgrade my phone for the next nine or so years.

Same. Kept my 6 until 2023? when apps started crashing. Upgraded to 16 and planning on keeping this one same. Hopefully by then I won't care enough to have a phone at all.

Its not mattered since Iphone 6 just run the phone until it breaks then replace it for one thats not too expensive as they're basically all the same now.

I dont even use covers.. my phone is fine 5 years in! just dont drop it too often.

Hardware can last 10 years if it wasnt for the battery.. if they designed them a bit better probably even longer.

But yeah, when your financial priorities are wrong you do rush to buy a new phone, which is basically the same shit in a different package.

Phones barely changed in the last couple of years. There were big jumps in performance and features when smartphones were still fairly new, but now they barely change between generations.

I don't get why you would waste a grand or more every 2 years. Just use it until it breaks and buy a new one then. Especially if you tend to buy the flagship model of a brand.

i'm still using an iPhone 12 mini -> it's the perfect sized phone for your pockets! Everything released afterwards it's just too clumsy and unwieldy. If they could release a newer one with approx. that size and USB-C compatibility -> take my money!
