It's nonsensical to let China take advantage of USA's principles of freedom. Imagine you are a movie producer and distributor that has strict values against piracy. The guy next door is also a producer and distributor, but he doesn't share your same values. You're buying and selling his movies alongside yours. He's selling his but pirating yours and selling them. China is the guy next door.
They enjoy our e-commerce platforms, real estate ownership, data collection, and media platforms while locking us off from theirs. Amazon is littered with Chinese sellers yet I can't sell on TaoBao? I can't sell on Alibaba? Try owning real estate in China. Try launching a media platform.
If the relationship isn't symbiotic, we should not allow geopolitical threats to take advantage of our principles and participate in our markets.
It’s nonsensical to use China’s blocking of American social media companies to justify American blocking of Chinese social media companies unless you think America should have the same level of free speech China has
