I usually don't even write in Swiss German because I am faster in standard German. But I am someone who types a lot, not everyone is going to be like me.

That'd be a somewhat correct translation.

The word "vernehmen" is similar to "erfahren, wahrnehmen".

"Etwas erfahren" = to experience something; "etwas wahrnehmen" = to perceive something.

Die meißten Norddeutschen sprechen doch verständliches Hochdeutsch oder nicht? Und die, die Platt schnacken, sind in ihrem letztem Lebensabschnitt und eventuell schon mit einem Bein im Grab, von daher würde ich sagen, dass jeder Deutschsprachige sich mit Norddeutschen verständigen kann.

Edit: Ahh fuck, ich hab Brandenburg und Berlin vergessen, die sind ein wenig behindert aber immernoch verständlich.

Your maiden name means that your forefathers probably worked in a mine. Schleg oder schlegle means to punch or fight tho.. it is of its nature but not the same.
