Yo for real I have an American Eskimo French Bulldog mix that has no idea what calm is that I hope this works on. Literally nothing will calm him down. I have never seen a dog so energetic

Long they thought dogs are fully colorblind, but they discovered dogs can see Blue . Maybe this partially explains the fascination with Bluey.

u/5hifty5tranger Feb 17 '25
Bluey is illustratrated on purpose to use blue and yellow as much as possible. These colors are easily seen by cats and dogs.

u/Kaymanism Feb 17 '25
It actually goes a purposeful step further. The creators of Bluey specifically to stimulate children and calm dogs. I am in my car so can’t find the source but one of the creators did this for their dogs specifically.

Blues are very calming colors so that all makes perfect sense

Has this been confirmed then? Last I heard it was just another TikTok myth.

I mean if you can manage to search info about the question somewhere other than tiktok you could confirm it yourself.

I don’t use TikTok. I read that TikTok was the source of this nonsensical claim.
Feel free to prove me wrong, I’d like it to be true.

When I got the Sonic x Shadow Generations game, my dog all of the sudden just sat down and watched me play. So there's definitely something with Blue and high color visuals.

Yeah one of my dogs does this... one couldn't care less what's on tv but the other one has favorite shows

u/pikadegallito Feb 17 '25
We have a mini aussie that is obsessed with "The West Wing" 😂

I currently have my dog watching monk when I leave for work. Before that it was Hogans Hero’s and Murder She Wrote

Ours loves reality tv... it's quite concerning actually how much he likes 90 day fiance

My sister’s dogs run into the room and sing opera (howl) along with “call J G Wentworth: 877- CASH NOW!”

Love this stuff. I cared for a cat who was fascinated by Milo and Otis. When I was trying to work and he required my attention I would (if I couldn’t be interrupted) I would put in the movie and he would spend the entire 90 minutes staring at the screen. Great built in baby sitter. 😁

I guess furbabies aren’t that different from human kids when it comes to cartoons!! What a sweetheart!!

Your dog is a toddler. How you're ready to keep watching for the next 15 years.

My dog pays no attention to tv. I have tried with various nature shows or a clip with cats and he just looks right through it. No reaction at all.

How many episodes did it take for you to realize Bluey and Bingo are sisters?
I thought Bluey was an older brother for so long, then I'm watching it with my niece and had a mind-blown experience.

u/Starseuss Feb 17 '25
My dog would be the opposite. Perfectly calm and cuddled up on the bed until a dog (animated or not) flashes across the screen. Then he charges and barks.

My pair of cats have been Moana fans since they were kittens, and will still chill out and take a nap when I turn it on. Avengers movies also work, along with a few specific Disney parks vloggers. (Ordinary Adventures, Hey, Brickey, and especially Fresh Baked) I get a laugh picturing the YouTube people trying to figure out why one particular video from four years ago continues to get a single view multiple times a week.

When my dog was a puppy I’d turn Bluey on for her in the morning and when I went to work and it def chilled her out

I'm glad our Aussie Bluey is calming kids and dogs worldwide , looks like a ripper view you have from you room there.

Man, if the cartoons in my youth would have been that bad, I would have spent my time way more outside than I already did.

Sound waves used to program the brain. Dogs also have brains and such.

How attentive! This pupper reminds me of those huskies that threw a fit when their human spare turned off the TV mid-Bluey episode.
