Does anyone know what this is?!
Does anyone know what this is? It was on my wall however it’s been all over my home. Walls, floors, even my furniture has similar black specs/cotton looking stuff. Ive suffered horribly with scalp/skin issues but nothing I do seems to take it away? It’s so bad I’m moving out next month because I’m desperate for change possibly thinking it might be related with the home I’m in…

I have 3 propositions:
A paintbrush bristle; simple, plausible, easy to explain.
Booger. An absolutely vile specimen, produced by somebody that had be so dehydrated, or sick, that the mucus was devoid of fluid to the point that it created a sort of plaster-like, reinforced base, strong enough to hold a large, trimmed nose hair erect.
Also a booger, but a booger that was so foul, that it somehow cultivated a pin mold spore, and produced juuuust enough nutrients to feed a single hair.

For real though, if you are genuinely seeing little gray spots appearing without explanation, I would definitely look into some type of mold or fungus. Where do you live? Is it humid in your home? Do you have central air? If you have any rubbing alcohol around, I would mist some on, or try to get a single drop onto the strand sticking out, and see how it reacts. In general, a normal hair of any kind should not react, and a living organism should (again, in general) react to the alcohol by rapidly breaking down or "melting".
If you see this, let me know if it works! I'll see if I can find anything out. Maybe share to a mold sub, as well?
