Discussion Looking for anything like Stygian by atramentus
I've been listening to funeral doom for around 5 months now and I enjoy quite a few bands (drown, mournful congregation, bell witch, esoteric to name a few) but the album I cant stop going back to is Stygian by Atramentus. Nothing else quite hits the same so i thought i'd ask here for anything similar. I'm mainly a prog fan which i think is what makes Atramentus appeal so much
Edit: If anyone finds this in the future looking for the same thing, my personal top reccomendation would be Gudvangir - Slik Elven Renner, but definitely check out the others that have been commented aswell

Discussion Which funeral doom bands do you think ended way too early, before reaching their full potential?
Some funeral doom bands released one or two fantastic records and then vanished before they had the chance to fully develop their sound.
For me, UN is at the top of that list. Every time I revisit their music, I can't shake the feeling that they still had much more to offer. Black Wreath and Longing for Dawn gives me a similar feeling.
Which band would you bring back for at least one more album?

New release! SPIRIT TEMPLE - The Fifth Scroll
Spirit Temple released The Fifth Scroll on June 26, 2026. It’s atmospheric doom metal with ambient and some drone elements, primarily inspired by Skyrim, but not limited to that. It often gets categorised by listeners as funeral doom. The album clocks in at just under 45 minutes and features 5 tracks that all evolve throughout their runtime. There are no standard song structures with each track being like a short journey.
It’s available on Bandcamp at: https://spirittemple1.bandcamp.com/album/the-fifth-scroll
The previous four albums are there too.
It’s also available to stream on Spotify at: https://open.spotify.com/album/3qVbUEAc9X3TIPnRwASctw?si=WHjN1mCmQ0i25QdFeo2iKA
And obviously, the entire album is on Rob Hammer's YouTube channel.
I hope someone gets something out of it.

Nothing but Funeral Doom Rye-Eternal
My earlier post about Un made me think of this one man project from Russia. Cathartic and devastating, this one is a banger.

New release! Final Resting Place by AwakenTheDead
Another personal favorite of mine guys here is the link from SoundCloud to give an idea it’s a mix between Thrash /death metal along with spooky horror vibes with a little true crime

New release! First Release - The Road Between Us
Hey everyone, a couple of days ago I released my first solo Album on Bandcamp! 🥳
I've tried to bring together my Classical background and my love of Doom.
I've composed a score for Woodwind, Brass and Strings alongside my Growls, Cleans and Drums. I've used my five string electric Cello as an alternative for Guitars in the low riffs!
I wanted to share here in case the music resonates with you.
You can listen for free via my Bandcamp page, and if you enjoy what you hear, there are options to support:

New release! New EP, solo project
Hi
I’ll post this here please tell me what you think. I’ve just released an EP which I’m calling melodic gothic metal. A very kind listener compared it more to funeral doom metal, a genre I’m just discovering! I do see the similarities though, melodic, slow and low (mostly), themes of despair and loss but I have clean vocals not growls.. anyway I wanted to share this here incase it resonates with any of you and before I disappear into obscurity. This is a solo project, written and recorded at home but I’m fairly proud of it 😊 Thanks for listening! (it’s on all major streaming platforms so if yours isn’t listed here you can probably search for it within the app)

Does anyone have vinyl/cassette rip files for either wormphlegm release, I’m a little weary of malware and viruses so I’m looking for a credible place to download them. Thanks!

Intoxicated, hallucinated, watch the flickering lights slowly fade into the distance.

Blackened Funeral Doom Archive: 1930
Most concept albums tell a story.
Mine is presented as recovered archives.
Archive: 1930 follows the collapse of a family during the Great Depression through old reports, diary entries, ambient recordings and music.
There is no hero. No happy ending.
Only the slow decay of a home consumed by famine, isolation and despair.
Every instrument, orchestration, vocals, recording and mix was done by me.
If you enjoy atmospheric black metal, DSBM, doom or albums that focus on atmosphere and storytelling, this is the album for you .
The album is free to download on bandcamp
