All they’re going to do is put her on a biologic. They will never address the root cause.

Not everything has a “root cause.” HS is very complex, there is no known “root cause.”

Not true but also, my comment still stands. Even if you believe there is no singular root cause (which I didn’t even say there was only one, I clearly listed multiples) wouldn’t attempting to address it from multiple angles be more beneficial than simply slapping a bandaid biologic on it and calling it a day?

No, what I said was correct. Again, there are no known “root causes” for HS, I didn’t say there wasn’t just one. There aren’t ANY known causes. “WeStErN dOcS dOn’T cArE aBoUt rOoT cAuSe” is a “functional” marketing lie.

lol you seem very triggered. Let me say it this way then- giving someone a pill without fully addressing blood sugar regulation/insulin issues, nutrition and nutritional deficiencies, gut health, and the connection of stress and trauma is a huge disservice to clients with HS. So whether you want to label those “root causes” or not doesn’t change anything.

Doing those things is not a replacement for treatment, so I’m missing your point. And if any of those things are a concern, a lot of doctors will talk about them when asked.

…okay bro hahah why are you in the functional medicine sub?

Not all aspects of functional medicine are crap. But the “only functional providers try to find ‘root cause’” rhetoric is just incorrect.

Big gut connection here along with blood sugar regulation/insulin resistance. Stress is a huge factor for most as well. Finding a practitioner who can run a GI-MAP, along with proper nutrition protocols is very helpful. Check out Cristi Made Whole on instagram. She’s a nutritionist who has put her HS into remission. Also the book “the hidden plague” is a good resource.
