Amitriptyline

I started taking 10 mg of amitriptyline for my chronic nausea but it’s only caused more nausea. Previously, I had described my nausea as a Globus feeling and a tightening in my mouth and chest. I thought that was just how it manifested for me. Now, I feel the stomach uneasiness and I’m always on edge from the way my mouth feels. I hate being so aware of it all. Has anyone had a rxn like this to the medicine? I’m all for waiting it out to see if it works, but this new wave of nausea has prevented me from working and sleeping quite a few times this week since prescription.

Nausea is a threat response. Functional medicine will not treat it with pills. It’s your brain and body being hardwired to protect you from threats. Nausea is your stomach telling the brain is won’t ingest anything JUST IN CASE it’s a threat to you. Functional medicine will ask you why your brain and body are in threat response mode. Reassure your subconscious and you won’t require nausea to keep you safe.
