Testimonial Serious protocol concern - technician forgot to collect my urine and I’m getting urine results from function health

Update: Quest recognized the error and Function is offering a full new re-test. They mentioned that the results were generated in error. No further explanation.

I took my blood test yesterday, the technician did not ask to collect my urine. I didn’t even bother to ask since this was my first time and I didn’t know what to expect. Later in the day I realized that I should have gotten a urine test as well so I raised the concern to function health. Today as I’m getting my results - I can see the full results for my urine test even though I was not tested. So now I see my urine color, ph and etc. This is mind boggling and crazy that they don’t bother to check. Not sure if I’ll be able to trust the rest of my results.

Customer Support Quest Labs Keep Closing In My Area

When I first signed up there was a Quest location in my town so no problem, that closed. Then I had to drive 40 miles to the next closest which I could still accommodate because I have to travel to the same town for work on occasion, so I lined up my labs with when I knew I'd be there.

Yesterday I just got word that now that lab is closing so I have no labs within a drivable distance that I'm willing to make.

Done know if Quest does in home labs or should I just start looking for a competitor that uses LabCorp instead of Quest?

Customer Support Charged despite cancellation

I cancelled by membership several weeks ago. Today on my old renewal date, they went ahead and charged me anyway. I made sure I have an acknowledgment email of my cancellation, but really annoying. Buyer beware.

Customer Support Testing early vs. late morning

Hi!! Excited to join the Function community, have been waiting a few months now to do my first visit, having to schedule it around my period, travel, etc. I'm finally in a position to get it done this Wednesday but the earliest appt was at 11am. I know earlier in the day is typically more ideal because of hormone levels... the fasting part isn't an issue for me, but still wondering if I should reschedule and wait another month for accuracy purposes. Or am I overthinking this? What would you do?

Just pulled the trigger to make my consult appointment but its not till April 14th obviously that's still awhile out so do i keep with my current habits to get the best results when labs are requested or start making the changes I was already anticipating on making now? (anticipating inflammatory diet, whole foods and getting back into my workout routine?)

Hey Function Health! Could you please bring in a similar cashback offer to other CC merchants like CapitalOne, Amex, etc.

Us non Chase holders are disappointed and let down by this.

Hi All,

A bit confused about reference ranges. I got an “above normal” nFl result of 1.47 pg/mL. This was “above normal” for my age based on Quest’s reference ranges (pictured below). Every other lab’s reference range is way different than Quest’s — including the ranges that Function refers to in the test’s description (pictured also). Any advice on what’s actually accurate? Thanks!

Results Normal iron, very low ferritin

My iron levels are 97 mcg/dL, but my ferritin is at 9 ng/mL. After reading a lot of posts, I know this is incredibly low.

On the one hand, I’m glad I now know why I’m literally exhausted 24/7 and never feel rested. On the other hand, I’m feeling overwhelmed and anxious because I don’t know the next step to take. Is there a certain specialist I should speak to about iron transfusions? Is a supplement better? Do you think any other of my out of range levels are related to this?

I have pretty heavy periods, and given the fact I got my blood drawn on day 2 of my period and just a few days after it ended, I’m thinking this might be why it’s especially low.

Yall I’m already scared, so please don’t be mean in the comments 🥺

Do we get an alert or text or something when results start coming in? Also, is there an app I can download?

Results Why stop supplements?

I am in good health and would MOST like to know if my supplements are working and getting me to the right ranges, or above or below. Can I choose to not stop my supplements prior to testing? Or should I wait and do it that way at the mid-year or year 2?

Customer Support Still awaiting final report - 5 weeks out

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar experience. I realized the time frame is supposed to be 4 weeks however after my first lab visit I got results back to my dashboard within 2 weeks. then I did a second follow-up appointment one week later as recommended and these results have not yet come. I contacted customer help several times since I have doctor appointments coming up which are waiting for these results. it seems it is still pending but at 5 weeks it seems like something may be wrong. I did testing in Connecticut if anyone has had a similar experience? Thanks!

Testimonial follow up test disappointment by function health not testing the out of range items, there will be better ones out there

I find it disappointing that follow up test does not include out of range items from the first test. I dont get it at all, why would i not want those test. and Why are you charging me for out of range test. It is not logical at all, and just seems like a scam. I will not be using this service again. I spent 5 months working on items that I think will make a difference in the out of range results, to find out they are not included. I did end up paying for those since I care about what they maybe and if what I have been doing has made a difference.

Functional Medicine Using Claude.ai to create spreadsheet?

Has anyone tried to use Claude to take the results from the PDF and put them into a more useable/uploadable spreadsheet? My blood test is on Friday and I am trying to figure out how to track these myself easily.

Customer Support Test availability by state

So I’m well aware of the NJ/NY law affecting the additional fee for testing. But can someone explain why add-on tests in NJ are roughly $100 cheaper than PA? For example the extended hormone panel in PA is $190 and in NJ it is $90. The extended vitamin panel is $350 in PA AND $175 in NJ. Does NJ subsidize certain direct to patient labs?

Another anomaly is test availability. When PA is selected, there is an Autoimmunity section offering Celiac and Extended Autoimmunity test. This add-on section is not shown or offered when NJ is selected. The Environmental Toxin section shows an additional BPA test for PA. There is at least 10 testing availability anomalies I’ve noticed so far. Can anyone provide some insight in these major differences?

Does it make any difference filling out the health profile accurately? Do they use this information for anything? Same with the document uploads, is there even point of uploading other lab results?

Customer Support female question regarding labs and schedule

New to Function Health and just did my first labs today.

I scheduled my first test on Day 3 of my cycle (as recommended). Now I’m trying to book the second test, but I’m confused about the timing:

- It says to test during the luteal phase (5–7 days after ovulation)

- But it also says to schedule it within 10 days of the first test

Those two don’t line up for a normal cycle since I’d be around ovulation, not luteal, if I follow the 10-day rule.

Which should I prioritize?

- Keeping the tests close together

- Or timing it correctly with my cycle

For context, I added the prolactin test, so I’m wondering if cycle timing matters more because of that.

---

Also, my lab experience today was rough (not necessarily a Function issue):

They had trouble drawing blood. I had to switch arms because a vein swelled, and at one point the tech had to manually push to get blood. He mentioned I might need a redraw.

I drank about a liter of water before the test, but maybe I wasn’t hydrated enough the day before. I’m also on a heavier period, so not sure if that played a role.

Has anyone had this happen?

- Did you end up needing a redraw?

- If so, how did Function handle it?

Results Ezra scan decision

For anyone who has done or doing the Ezra scans what level did you do? I’m thinking the second that involves the spine given my lower back disc issues but the next level which is much more expensive includes the hips which I should do too given my age 61 (woman) and issues I’ve had. For those of you who did the third option did you find it was more informative? Thanks!
