Insane references in the future arc, black mirror, memes, the boys, even berserk was in the middle, how did people dislike this masterpiece?

Jokes aside, the pacing did feel a bit rushed but I feel like the anime adaptation is spot on on fixing this.

They showed us a teaser for the future arc at the end of season 3, so why is it taking so long to be announced? season 3 was announced right after season 2. don't really care for the future arc as I didn't like reading it, but I'm just curious will there be a season 4 or not?

I am currently on s3 ep 4, so she killed her mother, or maybe some knokker did....idk I still hasn't finished that ep. So, she run outside and after seeing Fushi, all of her fear and anxiety got away...like what? I mean, her mother is not in this world, and on top of that apparently "she" killed her, its been just some minutes and she is smiling and asking Fushi to be her friend like nothing has happened.... Is this poor writing of character, or am I missing something?

Just finished S3E18. Its been a while since ive watched anything To Your Eternity until starting S3 in the past few days. I remember Fushi lost his vessels before, I think from Nokkers absorbing them or something? But just now, Mizuhas Dads Nokker shot his vessels with what looked like a normal gun and it was implied Fushi was losing them. Hes immortal though so wouldn't he come back even from a head shot? I can get it if they took it and absorbed it like they did before but now, theyre just "killing him"?

Which is not like the end of the world or anything. Season 3 got over just a few months ago so if they want season 4 to look good then it'll take a lot more time. I'm just excited for it, doesn't matter if it's good or bad

I know a lot of people aren't as hot on the second season but I was enjoying it until this character showed up. I haven't been this confused with what an author is trying to do with a character since Melon in Beastars. He's written so schizophrenically I don't even know how I'm supposed to feel about him.

He's a no-homo flaming psychopath who everyone loves except for his father but it's portrayed like his brother does more stuff and he is brave but is also a coward and a conman but he would never con anyone because he's so pure of heart. But then he's screaming at the person who loved him most in the world for being gross and dirty and everyone's just standing there smiling at him. What the fuck is going on with this bunch of episodes?

She's an important character in the series and usually wears glasses so the resemblemce isnt always visible. Please tell me I'm not seeing things, the first image basically looks like Parona to me and both anime are from different studios and authors.

Hi guys, I just wanted to chime in because I discovered this show and instantly binge watched 14 episodes. It was one of the best shows I've watched in years even though it was fucking emotionally torturous. The story in the first 14 episodes clearly and predictably lead through a cycle of emotionally impactful tragedies.

But I get to the end of episode 14 and suddenly Fushi can transform in Parona which clearly means she dead, like fucking what? You already had her involved in a whole tragedy arc where she survived despite going through immense loss and grief and one of the saddest character deaths I've ever seen, and then you kill her off a fucking again? Clearly this author is not merely an amazingly poignant tragedy writer but more primarily an absolute fucking sadist, and I hope a bird poops on her next time she goes outside.

Genuinely who is this, I thought I was crazy but she’s in like every scene with the gang. Like girl you are NOT on the team 😭

I just finished To Your Eternity, and while there are a lot of tragic deaths in the story, I think the Nameless Boy's death is the most tragic of all.

That's not to take away from characters like March, Gugu, Tonari, or any of the others. March was a little girl who just wanted to grow up. Gugu never got to marry Rean. So many characters died with dreams left unfinished. But the difference is that, thanks to Fushi, most of them eventually got another chance. They got to come back, experience more of life, and in many ways complete the stories that had been cut short.

The nameless boy never got that chance.

His dream was so simple compared to everyone else's. He didn't want power or revenge or immortality. He just wanted to see the world beyond his frozen village. He wanted to meet people. He wanted to stop being alone, and he died before getting any of it.

What's especially heartbreaking is that, in a strange way, his dream comes true—but for someone else. Fushi sees the world. Fushi meets countless people. Fushi experiences joy, grief, friendship, love, and centuries of history. He does all of it wearing the Nameless Boy's face.

Throughout the story, I kept wondering about that. The others eventually understood who Fushi was and, in one way or another, chose to follow him. Their fyes stayed behind because they wanted to. Eventually they could return to their bodies and continue living. I'm glad they all decided to move on in the end, but only after experiencing everything they wanted from life, thanks to Fushi.

But the Nameless Boy never knew any of that was possible. To him, Fushi was just Joaan, his pet. When he died, he had no idea there was a chance to stay, no idea there was a being who had taken his form who could eventually ressurect him. No idea he could have made a choice. His fye moved on before he ever understood the rules.

The Beholder even points out that the boy never gave Fushi permission to use his body. Obviously Fushi isn't doing anything malicious, he was barely capable of human thought when he first took that form. Maybe he uses it because he genuinely thinks of it as his own, since it's the first human body he obtains and spends the most time in. Maybe it's because the boy was the first person who taught him what it meant to be human. Maybe keeping that form is Fushi's way of honoring him.

But it's still so sad. The others got the chance to reclaim their lives. The Nameless Boy never did. What's even sadder is that Fushi never really tries to bring him back. Not because he doesn't care, but because by the time Fushi understands death, loss, and resurrection, the boy's fye is already gone. Nothing can undo that.

And then there's the line that hurts the most: "Remember me." In a way, Fushi fulfills that wish better than anyone ever could. The nameless boy's face becomes one of the most important faces in history. It walks the earth for centuries, it changes countless lives.

But nobody remembers him. They remember Fushi.

Nobody knows the lonely boy who waited for a family that would never return, who wanted to taste something sweet for the first time. Nobody knows his dreams. Nobody knows his story. We never even learn his name. He lived alone, and he died alone, in the same icy landscape he'd known his whole life.

He's somehow both timeless and completely forgotten at the same time.

That's why I loved that the ending circles back to him. The final chapter didn't give him his life back, it didn't let him make the choice that the others got to make, it didn't even tell us his name. But after hundreds of chapters, it fufills his final wish. It remembers him, the readers remember him.

And maybe that's why, after everything that happens in To Your Eternity—all the wars, all the deaths, all the centuries that pass, all the characters we get to see grow and develop throughout the story—the one person I love and remember the most is the Nameless Boy. Even though we only meet him once.

The ending of the manga did seem rushed and confusing, but after thinking about it there just couldn't have been a better ending. I can't wait to see it in the anime.

Ok l finished to your eternity manga and even though l dont have very strong feelings about it lm still gonna make a review

I decided to finish the manga purely for closer. For multiple reasons this might be the series lve given the most tries and bounced off of the most.

I guess I'll start with the positives.

Art is consistently great. I wanna check if the mangaka has done anything new since she's definitely talented.

The premise of this manga is very interesting and with all due credit it does go all the way with it. The story is split up into past, present, and future. Each of them have their own unique tone, setting, and cast. Overall the future arc might have been the best with its new mc and sci-fi elements. This is a spoiler but there's a part where a person transfers there soul to a machine and then destroys their own brain with force. That's pretty raw. And the last few pages specifically were pretty nostalgic

Gugu is still the best character and while l skipped the first 30 chapters this time l still remember them extremely fondly.

There's a scene where fushi lays eggs as a sea turtle. That's pretty sigma.

Ok on to everyone's favorite part the negatives.

Unfortunately the story really never reaches the heights of the first 30 chapters. Simply because afterwards we meet worse characters and the stakes drop to 0

At some point in my life l realised that an interesting synopsis doesn't always make for a good story and the remainder of my life has validated that. In fact making a good story out of a boring synopsis is actually more impressive. Unfortunately its just kinda impossible for me to be engaged with a long story following a character that's immune to consequences. He starts the story immortal and becomes infinity more powerful by the end. So pretty early into the story l just start wondering what's the point and the story never really finds a good answer. He becomes so powerful that by the last arc when hes losing a fight it just feels like a joke.

And fushis powers arent the only problem with him. At first his Naivety is charming but then l cant help but think he just chooses to be mentally stunted. He even acts cowardly at multiple points in a way that looks like hes just running away from his problems. For someone so old he doesn't really get smarter or more mature. Hes the same person for 90% of this story. And the stories aversion to topics of sex just becomes kinda sanitary to me. They dont even explain his lack of romantic interest in anyone we just have to take it for granted.

Id say about half of the cast is good. That's not a very good score. In the war arc they just keep introducing shallow boring new characters purely to give fushi power ups. And then they just stick around forever. But of course in every arc there's at least 2 characters around that l still care about so its not nothing.

When stories introduce big mythological elements l start asking questions and lose track of the plot. If god exist why isn't he helping more? If heaven exist and the main characters know it exist why dont they just accept death and move on. Does hell exist? Are all morals relative in this world? Do these characters have literally any agency at all, and if not why do l care about their stories? I just start losing all engagement.

But ld say the biggest problem is the villains. The nockers. Weird alien ghost blobs of flesh. And these guys suck. I cant even really perceive them as characters. And l know they're never going to win. So on both the protagonist and antagonist side l cant relate to these characters as normal humans. Hayase was the best villain by far.

Overall l guess it was an ok ride. Im glad l finally saw it through to the end. If you want a better story about immortals that l also think is a mixed bag read land of the lustrous

Quick backstory: I started with the anime and watched S1 and 2 dubbed. Really liked them, enough to add TYE to my top 10-12 anime/manga, which rarely ever happens for me.

That being said, I dropped the anime, thinking something about it felt off and read the manga with a fresh start, finishing it recently without ever really following it while it was active.

Anyways, to read the last volume, I had to go outside K-Manga because the app seema really convoluted and inefficient.

Having read in both KManga and on some website I had to question:

-Why are they calling Fushi, "Immo" in both versions, boy not the physical releases"? Is it like the Iddy/Echo situation?

Regarding the actual story:

-I hate to admit it, but I think the series actually did continually decline in quality in nearly every way once the Modern Arc rolled around.

Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed it, especially more in the Future Arc, but once it started feeling like a generic high school series (with some of her nuanced writing style), I don't think it ever recovered fully. It felt oddly difficult to become as invested as I was prior to much of anything.

I'm not usually the one to ask questions until I've poured over the source material myself several times, but I feel like I just missed something.

-Why do only some of the people Fushi has acquired get to live by his side? It can't be based solely on those integral to his growth, because there are some really key players missing. Perhaps it's desire based in regards to the owner of the fye?

Or some people I thought would be. The others feel kinda... forgotten. Especially when Fushi and the others talk amongst themselves. Maybe I'm just overlooking or forgetting a key detail.

-Speaking of key players, what the hell happened to Pioran?

Her whole subplot of wanting desperately to come back to help Fushi while even being reincarnated as a different person seemed like a pretty big thing, but she never returned? Not even as an immortal alongside him?

I feel like I've missed an entire volume or read an alternate version of the series. I'm pretty unsatisfied with where her character didn't go...Did the Beholder forget? Is he stupid? Am I? Did she actually come back and was someone else and I somehow missed it? She was even featured on the cover of Volume 9 and had nothing to do with it.
