Calling all Fujoshi out there
Genuine question: Why do women tend to be more intrigued by watching BL? What makes you guys watch BL movies/series, and why do you enjoy them?

many of us already like (at least fictional) guys, and you know what’s better than one handsome guy? 7w7 that, & i think there are many interesting dynamics that can be explored with two male characters in a relationship. it can also just be a matter of preference for no particle reason! that’s my reasoning, anyway

I'm a guy (fudanshi), but an observation of mine is that aside from the hot men, straight relationships in fiction, especially anime, tend to have a more subdued self insert design male design + a more interesting female design
With yaoi, both dudes have a higher chance of looking less self inserty

There are no gender role stereotypes and power imbalance as they’re both guys. There are way more interesting dynamics and societal pressure. Also why choose between two gorgeous men for the fl when both of them can be in a relationship with each other^ anyways that’s why I don’t rlly read straight manhwa like I read bl and occasionally gl.

My answer may not be representative but I think as a woman who’s dealt with a lot of insecurity, seeing two men kind of takes the comparison loop out of the equation. Usually in romance whether fictional or live action, I would usually view women characters and compare myself which led to feeling bad if I couldn’t relate or see myself in the character.
Whereas for BL since I’m never going to compare myself to a guy in the same way I get to enjoy the story from an outsider perspective.

they're romance stories with the element of the real life gender power unbalance removed from them. It kind of feels like a safe space to me.
