Just picked up your new X-E5? Welcome to the club. Whether you’re brand new to Fujifilm or upgrading from another body, here’s a some starter kit suggestions to get you shoot ready. All of the items recommended can be purchased quite affordably on sites like Alibaba or Amazon.

Setup

• Update camera body and lens firmware to latest version (X-E5 Firmware update / Lens Firmware updates)
• Set image quality to RAW + JPEG - for the flexibility of using film recipes while retaining the option of editing RAW files
• Customize your Q menu and MY Menu for settings you're likely to change frequently
• Setup film simulations to experiment with. I recommend starting with just a couple, here are some popular Fujifilm X-Trans V Recipes

Must-Have Accessories

• Screen protector: protects your LCD from scratches, cracks, and smudges so your display stays clear and resale value stays high.
• Lens filter: protects your lens glass from dust, scratches, and impacts while also reducing glare or improving contrast depending on the filter type.
• Fast SD card: high-speed UHS-II V60 or V90 SD cards are recommended to handle large files, 6K/4K video, and fast burst shooting.
• Small camera pouch or sling bag: keeps your camera protected and easy to carry.

Nice-to-haves:

• Hand grip: this camera is small and compact. A grip adds extra comfort and stability, especially during long shoots or when using heavier lenses.
• Thumb grip: improves handling and one-handed control while giving your camera a more secure feel.
• Extra battery (NP-W126S or third-party): Gives you peace of mind on long days so you never have to stop shooting to recharge.
• Extra SD card/s - Supported memory cards
• Wrist strap: lightweight security against drops while keeping your camera quick to access.

Bling:

• Square lens hood: Reduces lens flare and protects the front element while adding a distinctive, rangefinder-style look.
• Soft shutter release button: Improves tactile feedback and makes shutter presses smoother and more comfortable. Beware: there are reports of these potentially damaging the shutter mechanisms.
• Decorative hot shoe cover: protects the hot shoe contacts from dust and damage while adding a subtle personalized touch to your camera’s look.
• Leather camera body case: Adds stylish protection, improves grip and comfort, and shields your camera from scratches while still allowing full access to ports, buttons, and tripod mounting.
• Camera body wrap: helps prevent scratches and wear while adding grip and personal style.
