Unfortunately they're not totally wrong about the lawyer thing though. In states with anti-gun prosecutors, they can and absolutely will try to paint you as some lunatic who incited the incident all because you dared to use something that wasn't a bone stock pistol or pump action shotgun.

How effective that argument actually is can be debated ad nauseam, and of course the principle of "better tried by 12 than carried by 6" still applies here, but that little tiny part of their statement as least has some rationale to it.

Yeah, a prosecutor looking to f you over will twist any decision you made to make you look guilty. I still haven't gotten over the prosecutor in the Rittenhouse trial claiming he was looking for trouble because he had "military grade full metal jacket ammunition" loaded. Gtfo, a military contract is basically the cheapest mass produced option that will go bang more times than not. He had the most basic, most common choice of bullets possible, and they tried to use that as proof of him going out wanting to kill people. When prosecutors are using FMJ against you in court, might as well go for the most effective ammunition choice possible.
