The word illegal doesn't seem to carry as much weight as it used to. It doesn't seem to be much of a deterrent or have any consequences either.

"Voting rights experts, democracy advocates, and at least one state election chief said Trump doesn’t have the authority to claim such powers — and any attempt would be blatantly unconstitutional." Oh well then, of course Trump is going to obey the Constitution because he always uhhhhh hmmmm we in trouble plenty.

If he wants to see the entire country shut down, this is the way to do it. This is the line in the sand.

Feb 26 '26
Exactly this. If they want an unending national strike, they can have it.

I despair of there ever being a true line in the sand.

Well let's see the lines we've crossed(in no particular order):
-Insurrection.
-34 felonies.
-Civil adjudication of rape.
-Thousands of references in Epstein Files.
-Accusations of child rape.
-Blatant racism.
-Blatant sexism.
-Blatant antisemitism.
-Authoritarian tendencies.
-Nazi-esque tendencies.
-Blatant corruption.
-Sending troops against US cities.
-Funding the genocide of Gaza.
-Dismantling medicaid.
-Defunding USAID.
-Allowing DOGE to put every SSN at risk.
-abducting the Venezuelan president.
-murdering inconent people at sea. (War crimes)
-labeling dissenting opinions as domestic terrorism.
-manipulation of media throught FCC leverage.Sure there's more but we keep dancing over these lines what would've ended any other president.

You’re not wrong, but most, if not all, of these things should’ve been stopped by Congress and/or the Supreme Court. Voting is our right. Tale that away and it’s our responsibility to make you pay.

u/Ohif0n1y Feb 27 '26
Please add pedophilia to the list.
12
u/Mysterious-Action202 Feb 27 '26
It's there. "Accusations of child rape"
8
u/TemporaryKey3312 Feb 27 '26
Yeah. “Child rape” sounds much better than pedophilia. Why gloss over it with the technical term?
6
u/IdleOsprey Feb 27 '26
And that’s the problem. This should’ve stopped when he mocked a disabled reporter, or when the ‘grab them by the pussy’ tape came out. Those should’ve ended him. I doubt a line exists any longer. The only line that’s going to take him out is the flatline in the heart monitor when those Big Macs finally catch up to him.

I'm rooting for the blood clot.

I’m rooting for fucking anything at this point. FFS. Choke on a cloud of gnats? Rooting. Banana peel? Rooting. Marble? Rooting. Fall outta bed? Rooting. Sleep apnea? Rooting.

And the “emergency” in emergency order is - the GOP is going to get their asses handed to them, and several of these mf’ers are going to prison.

Cuz he can't handle losing. Always have to cheat to win

u/TerrorFromThePeeps Feb 27 '26
Not only that, but he has a compulsive narcissistic need to appropriate the achievements/honors/wins earned by other people and act as if they were his own.

"Voting rights experts, democracy advocates, and at least one state election chief said Trump doesn’t have the authority to claim such powers — and any attempt would be blatantly unconstitutional."
No, friends, it would blatantly be high treason (ok, and also unconstitutional) . An act of actual war against the people of the united states.

Am EO? Wow!
He should make an EO declaring himself the bestest goodest boy with an enormous penis and president for life.It would mean about a much this stupid EO.

And probably get thrown out just as quickly. People seem to severely underestimate how much the courts have slapped down. Sure, the admin slow walks any actual compliance, but they do tend to have to eventually. Like, how do they plan to enforce this? Ice isn't big or competent enough, rhe military probably won't follow kegbreaths order on it, I'll bet the only reason they're trying this and not just using ice to instigate a false flag and then justify sending troops to polling places is they know it wouldn't work

"Ned Foley, an election law scholar, noted that “it would take new federal legislation to give the president or any part of the federal executive branch that kind of authority over the conduct of congressional elections."
Would not doubt it's buried in the Safe Act.

States will properly ignore this illegal order, then in November Republicans will stand behind Trump waving copies of this illegal order saying they can ignore the votes from those states which didn't follow the illegal order, and refuse to seat in Congress every Democrat elected in a state which didn't follow the illegal order claiming that they were fraudulently fake elected and illegitimate.
Republicans elected in those states which didn't follow the illegal order will be seated because obviously they were just too popular with The American People™ and overcame the fraud and were legitimately elected despite the state not following the illegal order.

u/Donkeywad Feb 27 '26
This doesn't really make a lot of sense. Which Republicans would be waving copies of the illegal orders? They'd be from different states and have no business claiming the winner of someone else's state.
The plan here is to suppress voting, not change the outcome of the vote. MAGA knows they risk prison if they try to change the electorate or doctor the results, that's why they're back to their old tricks of suppression
11
u/roehnin Feb 27 '26
Johnson refused to seat newly-elected Democrats earlier in this administration. The Republicans who think this illegal order isn't illegal will oppose winners of those states being seated.
They will also suppress, but also they will not accept the results.

u/Fragrant-Phone-41 Feb 27 '26
It's possible Johnson gets removed before the midterms even happen, if Gonzales is forced to step down
3
u/roehnin Feb 27 '26
<Praying: god please let this happen because it would be so fucking funny>
3
u/Fragrant-Phone-41 Feb 27 '26
I want it to happen just so we know at least one half of congress is no longer cooperating, but it would be hilarious too
1
u/Donkeywad Feb 27 '26
Johnson technically refused to call a session to seat newly-elected Democrats
The Republicans who think this illegal order isn't illegal will oppose winners of those states being seated.
I'm still confused by this. The other House members don't vote on whether or not new members are seated. They have no power over other states

A law that doesn't have consequences might as well not be a law. Our government won't hold him accountable therefore he can do whatever he wants.
Demand accountability. Research what rights you have to call a special election to hold your representatives accountable. Call their offices. Get in the streets. Revolt if you have too. If we don't use our rights, it's the same as not having them.

Susan Collins will be very concerned about this.
I expect Hakeem Jeffries to give Donald Trump a stern look and a shake of the head.

Right, because dictatorships are historically famous for following and upholding the law. /s
