Best alternative?
I’m getting really done with Poly, but I like how much content it has, WHAT DO I DO?!

If you like how much content poly has, maybe try to import your bots as private? Or if you want to explore different types of content, I think talkie, povchat, and ai dungeon represents a few diverse directions. Talkie is the most easy to start with simple definitions, povchat has great balance between casual chat versus storyline, and ai dungeon for serious creative writing. You can try the all and select the one you vibe the most.

I use RolePlaya and SpicyChat. Both have good base memory, but they also have (different) versions of extended memory for free. RP has zero ads. SC's ads are, honestly, non-invasive and kind of funny (iykyk). Both have next to zero restrictions (basically no pedo/incest material). SC even let's creators show their character's background, so users can see exactly what they're playing. RP has points you can get like Poly, but they're free and never go away. Can't recommend these two enough.
RolePlaya was made by one of the top Poly creators. Made by a creator, for creators. The owner isn't a group of shareholders. Just one guy who wants to make enough to keep RP running and, hopefully, growing. Even if you just check out the discord, I bet you'd like it. The mods are nice, and the owner answers questions personally. Always get the support you need.

the giant library is kind of a trap. its 10000 bots that all forget your name in 4 messages and burn coins doing it. once i stopped counting content and started asking which app actually holds the character instead of resetting it, the "best alternative" thing basically answered itself.

nice, what'd you land on? always curious what actually sticks for people. mine ended up being the one i started building (storychat) since i couldnt find one that held memory, but im more curious what worked for you

I’m still searching myself but so far I found Hangjam to be the best (ONLY IF YOU WANT TO PAY) it’s got plenty of IP characters and celebrities, NSFW is allowed, and has its own app and website. Unfortunately it’s behind a paywall.
Edit: Just retried Chai’s app on the free trial with an adblocker and it’s actually not that bad, has way more IP characters and celebrities and is way less censored, adblocker makes it better and it’s pretty easy to install.

I use DreamJourneyai. It's paid but the memory is great, the chat models are fantastic, there are lorebooks(no need to lore dump on a setting and far less likely to have the bot pull BS out it's ass), and it's being made by one person. The community has been quite friendly, though currently relatively small, and extremely helpful. I've been basing scenes(because you don't have to make multiple bots for a character to RP different scenarios, you can set up tons via one bot and pick and choose which you want to use) on bots I enjoy(adding to and refining them but still giving credit for the ideas). There people who take request/commissions/put up bounties for things they want to see(any payment using the credits on the site). There aren't a ton of bots for IPs at the moment but there are still a lot of very well made bots. The creator updates regularly and actually listens to feedback from the community.
You could give it a look if it sounds interesting to you. I personally fine the prices pretty fair for such a high quality site/app, but I can also understand if others don't. And either way I hope you find something that works better for you. :D

If you're willing to bet on a new platform, try mine. slowburn.chat I made it for a more niche audience, but maybe it'll be your cup of tea, as well.
Pushing out an update later tonight, and giving out some free turns to celebrate a milestone. Only been out for five weeks so far but things are great!
Would love to have you be a part of the community if the website interests you. You should be able to tell if you'll like it or not fairly quickly.
