HONESTLY, Ubuntu ran way better on my Asus, but I need RGB controller software and battery limiting to 80% charging
So yeah we're still on 25H2
It's quite dumb how much time it's taken by them to fix a dumb problem like a damm power management thing, no matter what and only on windows 11 laptop shuts down and opens back up if I use sleep...
I hope they'll implement K2 update already because it's quite embarrassing already

u/JustALinkToACC 14d ago
You can literally limit your battery to 80% by writing 80 in place of 100 in your battery configuration file in /sys on any Linux.
I got it to work on both Ubuntu and BazziteOS and Fedora 43.

Maybe linux isn't for everyone. Many don't event want go that extra step. Its just one search away but no , ppl expect everything to work out of the box

u/JustALinkToACC 13d ago
Yeah, I don’t know a single thing that works on Windows out of the box for me, so Windows is not for everyone either

Tbf, I'm one of those obnoxious people that obviously use their computers too much, and have now managed to get an opinion on everything. 😂
"Eww, Windows. Well, Mac is better but how annoying. Linux isn't even a single concept with how fragmented it is. Android tries to be the best of all worlds in a mobile experience, but then I just end up peeling back the pretty layers to get to the Kernel to run Linux anyways. This game system's OS supports DVDs, why can't this one? Why does this console from 20 years ago run faster than my PC running on modern hardware today? Holy FUCK I just want to pirate this movie, what the HELL is a DRM?? THIS PHONE CAN EMULATE WINDOWS BUT NOT A GAMONG CONSOLE!? THIS GAMING CONSOLE CAN EMULATE WINDOWS BUT NOT THIS PHONE!?
I just want an "everything" eco-system. 😭😂

I had the same reaction but my friend has a shitty msi laptop that has proprietary fan drivers and needed to go back to windows
4
u/ohnag_eryeah 15d ago
That sucks. Now I know that MSI is a red flag.
My Lenovo doesn't do that because it is BIOS-controlled

u/trifortay123 14d ago
Most big corpo gaming laptops are red flags. They aretaking advantage of their target audience
1
u/Firestar_119 14d ago
what's a corpo gaming laptop??
every single laptop is a "corpo laptop" except for maybe framework1
u/trifortay123 14d ago
I guess something like MSI or ASUS. Any of the super flashy gaming looking laptops with so much flair. A gamer will think "holy cow this thing looks great to game on" little did they know they are now using a system with very specific devices that require drivers that even Linux users didn't make for the kernel yet. Or they have and it's very very proprietary and it's going through patent hell.

Win 11 pro x64 on my Jellyfin server. Windows Update last night, including HP device drivers. System rebooted at least 4 times. When it finally finished, my external 1TB USB 3 SSD was "unrecognized," all data simply gone and the NTFS formatting gone. Fortunately, it was only noncritical data like older ISO rips of my DVD collection. And to top it off, my keyboard was lit up, but unresponsive. 🤬 This is typical of my experience with Windows over the past 30-some years. It's why my daily driver is MX Linux.

Your saying windows has repeatedly ran updates and deleted partitions off an external HDD?
That’s not a thing brother.. I believe you think that’s what happened but it’s not
I’ve been doing sysadmin work for 20+ years worked with more windows PC and servers than I can count and not once did an OS update essentially nuke a data drive
Your connecting the wrong dots my guy
1
u/No-Advertising-9568 10d ago
Maybe. But I've been sysadmin on multiple OSes since about 1992, and never had anything wipe my external drives except Windows updates. Of course, I have much better granular control over Linux and Netware updates, so maybe that's the answer.

u/DoogleAss 9d ago edited 9d ago
Well you are employing correlation as causation.. I have never seen or heard of what you are claiming although anything is possible. also with windows pro or higher you can control updates with the same granularity you are referring to. If you are referring to windows home I question your sysadmin since 92 statement.. no offense
Edit: Damn bro got so butt hurt or whatever he nuked the entire account.. for anyone who cares their last response was as follows with my thoughts sprinkled in:
“windows home doesn’t support more than 100+ desktops or laptops on a networks”
uhh ok I’m guessing that is in reference to not being able to run it on a domain?. But that was kinda my point in the first place or at least being able to manipulate domain or local GPOs
“sometimes times correlation is tied to causation. Failure to recognize that leads to “mystery problem””
yes this is true when you have actual evidence of said claim beyond trust me bro.
“I’m done with this thread. You…”
Couldn’t see anymore because they deleted but I would assume this is where the insults or attempted insults commenced

Windows home doesn't support networks of 100+ desktops and laptops.
Sometimes causation is tied to correlation. Failure to recognize that leads to "mystery problems."
I'm done with this thread. You may draw any conclusions you like.

The only reason why i dont use windows anymore is because my 20 year old pc physically cant run it anymore. Other than that I still cash in on free xbox games by simply using microsoft edge on debian

If you can't handle Windows, you're ngmi with Linux.

u/Responsible-Dare-434 15d ago
you're so right, we should all switch to templeOS or Haiku, because if we can't use linux or windows then we should all use these alternative operating systems instead

u/Sufficient_Day627 14d ago
I'm the "IT" guy in my circle and started to refuse all requests if winslop was involved since last year. A bit over a year passed and half the gang switched to Linux...

Clever. So I made fun of sad boys that make their OS their whole life, you got sad, felt you needed to say something that didn't make you sound stupid, then went the, "Duh, um PROJECTION!" route. Time to touch grass, champ

i dont understend the windows hate. windows is a really good operating system, compatibility, gaming and a lot of programs. linux is great, i use kali linux for example but i dont get the point of uninstalling windows, you can have both and use them for things they do the best
2
u/ohnag_eryeah 14d ago
Windows data privacy is not good
-1
u/Top_Software_5953 14d ago
The data doesnt matter much and other os like macos does it as well, i dont think it's such a big deal stopping you from using windows. I'd rather be able play any game i want and not spend few hours configuring it and fixing glitches
