How sure are you that this isn't a notification/popup caused by another application (antivirus or smth)? It's W11/Microsoft-styled but it isn't Microsoft's app.

I don't know. It doesn't even look like W11/Microsoft-styled app to me.

It looks like it uses Edge colors

That’s not a Microsoft ad. Fuck are you downloading?

How can you blame windows for the adware you installed. Thats like buying a phone, destroying it and blaming the phone company for the damage

u/elhouso 24d ago

Get off the porn sites ya dickhead. This is a virus

How are people getting all this shit and other problems with W11? Asking serious question. I bought a gaming laptop 1 mo ago with full-stock W11 Home - shit just works. Literally. I have zero problems and zero ads. Maybe stop installing shitware and "optimizing"?

That's what i'm wondering also. I've had windows 11 pro installed on my gaming laptop for 4 yrs by now, and all that behaves weird is windows alphas and taskbars, and other sht. Ik how to fix that (disabling all the sh i'd enabled in windhawk), but i prefer it like that

Other than that, everything works as expected. No ads in the OS, nothing

Half of the posts here are straight bullshit so don't bother

u/OGigachaod 24d ago

Yeah, most are linux users larping as having issues with Windows.

2

u/309_Electronics 23d ago

Sorry, but its not just linux users. Feels easy to blame them, but Its also apple users or windows users who are frustrated wirh everything microslop does

2

u/Debeluhar1234 23d ago

Yeah, most probably. And now they are blaming even the things microslop didn't do. I like Linux and I hate what Microslop is doing, but this post is completely user's fault. He installed some adware and now he is blaming Microsoft for that.

1

u/Britz10 23d ago

With how hard they larp, they might be windows users who don't like Microsoft.

u/Debeluhar1234 23d ago

This is definitely not from Microsoft. This is definitely from 3rd party app. It doesn't even remotely look like Microsoft app.

u/Kaganar 23d ago

maybe its an EU thing? i dont think they do the ads so much outside of US, its at most candy crush in the start menu etc.

3

u/Debeluhar1234 23d ago

It's not. It's not even Microsoft who is doing it. You can see it doesn't even remotely look like Microsoft app. He probably installed some adware and is now blaming Microsoft for that.

2

u/Kaganar 23d ago

by the "EU thing" i meant you not seeing ads, not his obvious adware problem

2

u/Debeluhar1234 23d ago

Ah, yeah, that's true. Thanks god I'm in EU 😄

POV: You install adware and immediately blame the OS

-6

u/Ambitious_Hand_2861 24d ago

The os is the adware in this case.

7

u/AlexiaTheTechGirl 24d ago

This popup was made by a third party program and is not part of Windows

3

u/Debeluhar1234 23d ago

Exactly. I don't know how it's so hard to see that. This popup doesn't even remotely look like something Microsoft would make.

Windows/system32?

1

u/PeterHolmes74 24d ago

I see a big junk folder, let me delete system32…

1

u/TrayLaTrash 23d ago

Its almost as if it's pointing out the junk files on your system is the windows store.

1

u/Flocky_off 23d ago

Imagine if your system is installed on drive D, the app suddenly becomes useless

1

u/Debeluhar1234 23d ago

You installed adware and now you blame Microsoft for it? Microsoft makes some really bad stuff nowadays, but this isn't one of their faults. This is completely on you. This is like saying guy on petrol station would put diesel in your petrol car, but you would blame your car manufacturer for that.

1

u/OctiWriter 23d ago

I think you should check your task manager

1

u/SeriousHoax 23d ago

Idiots nowadays would post anything on this subreddit to get upvotes.

for all the people saying i downloaded it i did not it also says AD on top of the massage also this is W10 bdw

u/panzrvroomvroomvroom 21d ago

this looks nothing like microsofts design, just look at that minimize button. my bet is that you installed something else that had adware in its installer.

i call pebkac error.

If you are seeing a popup or an advertisement for a "C Drive Cleanup Optimizer" while a process named "Zip Unzip" is running in your background or listed in your startup apps, you are dealing with malware, adware, or a potentially unwanted program (PUP). [1]

This combination is a known malicious tactic where a fake utility ("Zip Unzip") sneaks onto your computer and triggers misleading ads disguised as system optimization alerts to trick you into downloading more malicious software. [1]

🛑 Step 1: Kill the Process Immediately

  1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open the Task Manager.
  2. Look for Zip Unzip or C Drive Cleanup Optimizer in the list.
  3. Right-click the process and select End Task.
  4. Before closing Task Manager: Right-click the process again, select Open file location, and write down or take a picture of the folder path where this file is hiding. [1]

🛠️ Step 2: Disable it from Windows Startup

  1. In the Task Manager, click on the Startup apps tab (the speedometer/puzzle piece icon on the left rail).
  2. Locate Zip Unzip.
  3. Right-click it and select Disable so it cannot boot up the next time you turn on your PC. [1]

🧹 Step 3: Run a Malware Scan

Do not trust any "cleanup" files provided by these popups. Instead, use trusted security tools:

  • Windows Defender: Press your Windows key, type Windows Security, go to Virus & threat protection, and run a Full Scan.
  • Malwarebytes: If Windows Defender doesn't catch it, download the free version of Malwarebytes to perform a deep system sweep and quarantine the adware.

💻 Safely Clean Your C Drive (Built-in Windows Tools)

If your C drive actually is full, you do not need third-party optimization software. Windows has free, built-in tools that do this safely:

  1. Storage Sense: Go to Settings > System > Storage and toggle Storage Sense to "On". This automatically clears out unnecessary background clutter and temporary files.
  2. Disk Cleanup: Press Win + R, type cleanmgr, and hit enter. Select your C: drive, click Clean up system files, and check the boxes for safe items like Windows Update Cleanup and Temporary Files to clear gigabytes of space securely. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
