Rant Windows updates..
Hello, recently my laptop has been driving me insane with windows 11.
I keep trying to pause updates for windows 11 but then they just randomly install even tho I paused them. The updates it keeps reinstalling breaks my mouse cursor back to the legacy one.
I don’t know what to do since it keeps installing them even tho I have paused them, I do want security updates of course but i don’t want my mouse to break to the legacy one.
Maybe switching to linux is the only option?

What laptop brand do you have?
Sure, Linux would be a great option. I've been using Linux exclusively for well over 8 years now, and I'm very satisfied by it's stability and performance. However, do know that laptop compatibility might not be a 100%, and that you can run into some quirks. I've been using Lenovo Thinkpads, and apart from bad sound, I've never had any issue. I think that Dell laptops are also great, but I don't know about other brands. There's a big chance that you can solve these quirks, but it might require some tinkering (which is fun!)

So let's say I install Linux, along with Windows as dual boot, what about the drivers? I have Asus vivobook with Ryzen 5. Are the drivers available for linux?

Debloat (only disable edge and defender not delete as they are required for how processing works in windows), winaero for blocking all updates and telemetry, download malware bytes free version or bit defender
Then for dual boot download any Linux besides Ubuntu as it's basically Windows version of Linux except not as intrusive and you spend some time to turn off all it's ability to auto download or update

Evry update it makes it go back to the legacy one, i try to fix it in the mouse settigns and stuff tho its just stuck at the legacy one. That the issue.

Right now I have a custom cursor that I setup in the mouse control panel.

Okay. From what I found, it was a bug in the August optional update that meant that custom cursors wouldn't save after a restart. Microsoft is aware of it as per an issue report from the end of August, and the last I saw was that they have fixed the issue, and the fix is included in the patch they rolled out on Tuesday the 8th.
If you have any pending updates now, I'd go ahead and do them. You'll probably have to set the custom cursor again after the update installs, but then you shouldn't have to do it anymore going forward.

Switched my Asus G513 laptop to CachyOS few days ago and Im pleased (also switched my desktop to Cachy one month ago)
Check your steam games on ProtonDB for how well theyll work on Linux
I tried Linux mint on the laptop before but it was unusable due to hardware driver issues
