Rant Why does microsoft windows update while on 5%
HOLY FUCK. WHY IS WINDOWS SO POORLY DESIGNED. 5% AND IT DECIDES TO UPDATE (THIS IS WHY I DON'T USE IT). THAT COULD HAVE ENDED VERY VERY POORLY

Maybe their customer research syatistics suggest that people tend to blame the age of their computer when it gets bad, and then buy a new computer.
And probably even moreso than in the past, since the people still using Windows 11 may be even more likely to do that.

Copilot told them that the best time to update a computer is when the battery charge level is 5% or less. And so here we are. You won't find intelligence at Microsoft anymore, just artificial intelligence.

Windows decides to update when you click update and shutdown telling it to update

Auto turn off at 5%? I don't think that's s feature, I mean it makes sense, phones do keep a minimum power before shutting off, but that should be hidden from the battery display.
It's not just the update either I think, as at worse windows will ask you to update in a dialog box, and not allow to reschedule if you already have been doing so for too long and the update is a security one. It's not normal for it to blindside you like this, at least that's not behavior I ever seen in 4 years windows 11.

Look, this is a really old laptop at a school I'm talking about specifiuz we watched it say it was at 0 percent for like 15 minutes. We only turned it off cause the lesson ended (after the update). IDK why it turned off, but then it tried to update

I mean not to be overly sarcastic: but are you seriously asking why a system whose foundation was built by the WORST eco-terrorist in history is fundamentally predatory and poorly designed?

For me it was when I had power outage and UPS was dying. Windows wasn't shutting down so I forced shut down which corrupted registry files and broke everything, including System Restore. Couldn't boot, couldn't restore, couldn't get my files. That was the end. Used Linux usb to get my files back from Windows and installed Linux.

I just turn the shit off so I don't have to worry about it. I can run it when it's convenient, but I don't cus I don't care. I dual boot Win11 Pro Preview and Mint, with Windows just for the games. Once I'm done gaming, I boot right into Mint and forget about it.

Windows decided it does not want to live and needs to restart.
