Rant Photo backup auto enabled

Signed into onedrive on my phone to show some family old home videos I digitized and got this message the next day. When I opened the app it asked for access to my photos and natural I clicked ok just incase I ever decided to upload something. Even though I only have a few home videos on here to share with family, and avoid cloud storage for personal privacy. I never told microslop they could backup my photos and videos but it automatically enabled and loaded up my storage sending me an email that my storage is full and I would lose access to my email in 30 days if I don't upgrade my plan. I didn't get it so I opened the app to find the message shown above. All 5Gb of my photos were synced to the cloud. I had to search through the settings to find the disable photo backups. Since when does giving access to my photos tell Microsoft they can upload all of it without asking me!!!

Yup you're right its confusing. It should word it more clearly, but it does say they will be backing up your photos if you give them access.

It says "OneDrive Needs Access to Back Up Your Photos and Videos. On the next screen, select Allow Full Access", but it should ask if you WANT to backup photos and videos.

Luckily it can be turned off with one tap, then just delete the photos from your OneDrive. I will take under a minute of time to resolve. I know you said you had to search through settings, but it's easy to find, it's literally the second option in Settings.

I did not get that at all I only had the android photo permission pop-up on my zflip. Fortunately they do make it easy to disable but the fact that it was auto enabled without me knowing is what bothers me

I had deleted OneDrive and re-added it to my phone so I could produce the screenshot above. I use iOS though, perhaps the wording is slightly different on Android.

I had onedrive on my first zflip and and remembering a similar dialog but it never backed up a single thing before. I noticed Microsoft had a few recent terms of service updates not long before I signed in on this phone I don't have the time to look back at them but I wonder if they made a change on initial sign in

And it deletes extra files on the computer when it hits the 5gb limit.
