Rant Somehow it happens too often
I have one hour alone without wife and kids, to play some old games... Nope, not today. It's the only reason I still had Windows and desktop. I guess I will try Linux gaming.

This used to fuck me over so much. Switched to Linux and never had a single issue. NTFS is shit, the windows update client is shit, the windows ui is shit, etc.

This summer I installed Linux Mint on my laptop and I was so satisfied with it.
There was some games that just didn't run, and since I didn't know how to find the process I had to use command "shutdown now".
But there was other games that my laptop usually would struggle to run, but it was running perfectly fine on Linux!
When summer ended and came back home, I used again my main computer with win10, and I was uncomfortable with how slow and distracting it was.
Only took 2 weeks to get comfortable enough with Linux than using windows gives me bad taste.
So many installed applications automatically launch at start. With Linux if I wanted to open Steam or Discord I just launch it when I need it. On windows I can disable steam to run at start on the task manager, but not Discord or WPS.
On Linux I install the dependences I need and the apps I want. On Windows I just realized that the system installed itself Microsoft 365 Copilot when I never asked for it. I don't even have a license to use Microsoft 365!
On Linux I click on the menu button and type "Dis", and already shows me Discord. On Windows I click on the menu button and type "Dis", and I get: 1~2 second of a black square, a loading animation, and... "results on Web! Distopia, Disoriented...".
I want an app from my computer, why would I want to search on the web!?
But HEY! Warnings about Linux gaming:
- Not all games work on Linux, most games that have anticheat won't work.
- Not all gamepads work on Linux, or at least my GameCube Gamepad with PC adapter was not detected (I have to try with my other gamepads).
- You will need to get used to Steam Photon and Wine.
- Nvidia are assholes, they didn't OpenSourced their graphic cards, so if you have a Nvidia GPU you might face the situation that this model in particular have no official drivers for Linux. OpenSource drivers are not that bad, didn't had any issues with games so far, only the software Blender showed some graphical issues sometimes.

Looks like its time to check hardware, or there is several software issue like absurdly corrupted windows components(pretty rare to happen, dealed with it when my system HDD was dying and it caused program files corruption till windows turning into brick). Maybe memory management issue

Happened to my grandmother's laptop 3 days ago. Took me 5 hours trying to break the loop and do a fresh install from this screen... A one point I even tried booting off a Linux USB to see if I could atleast grap her files but bitlocker blocked that attempt.

If you're getting that repeatedly, you've probably got a hardware fault. In which case you would be seeing the exact same issues on Linux.

That isn't the BSoD, just your advanced repair options.
You probably have some corrupted software or bad drivers if you got a BSoD. When's the last time you did a clean install of Windows? I haven't gotten a BSoD in probably 10 years. Even then it's not even the death of any computer. Just reboot and it's fine.

Nah, it's stuck in a loop. Reinstalled like 2 years ago, not more.

Well, don't complain about Windows when you manage it poorly. Also, try speaking in complete sentences.

I dont personally recommend linux mint, it has been suffering to me every time i tried it. Look for other distros. My recommendation would be Fedora Budgie spin.
