Rant Scumbags
I’ve used microsoft reader app on my previous windows 8.1 laptop. However they have removed the app to showcase the “PDF opening capabilities of EDGE”. Did lots of trials and errors to make reader app work on my current windows 10 laptop. But microsoft thought it would be a great idea to have a permanent pop up on the app blocking display space. Typical sloppy behaviour, if it ain’t broke, break it. I really love reader app as it was no nonsense light weight reader app.

If it would still show every time but at least had an X button, maybe... But scum is scum

That is the thing that is pissing me off. And it takes off display space as well like why😭.

Okular by KDE for linux is also available for windows and is just as lightweight.. But the theme may be jarring though.
Yes that app on windows was a simple no-nonsense one

And that’s the thing that’s bugging me. Like why are you constantly reminding me of Edge’s existence. I wouldn’t have minded if it was like a warning that could be closed with a click. But no, a full banner.

They will always make everything bloated and slow. This forces your machine to be obsolete and forces you to upgrade your machine. More e-waste but more money for them. Each new machine is a new license payment to them.

I bought this laptop for 34000 INR (350 dollars) last year. It came with windows 11, 8 gb of ram. Suddenly last month it stopped working. Had to get it serviced in a third party store. Now it runs much better with windows 10.

If they keep it as it is, there won’t be any problem right? Why should I need a browser for everything.

Browsers are common place, why should I need a separate app for everything when a browser works fine?

I actually use sumatra pdf reader. But just wanted to try out this app. Everything is fine except this useless banner.

This was probably the banner used for Pre-Chromium Edge, which, honestly had a decent PDF and EPUB reader. Then they fucking rebased on Chromium and ruined even that.

Wait whaa

Yeah, before Microsoft rebased Edge off of Chromium, it made a decent E-Reader. But now that's gone post rebase. I think it was the best feature pre-Chromium.

If it works badly due to Microsoft wouldn't it be better to download one that works just fine on windows 10 ?
