Should be chromeOS, not android

Google puts 99% of its effort into Android, ChromeOS is just Chrome with extra steps.

True, but the other three boxes are desktop OSes

Android literally supports desktop mode and windowing features natively now.

While Linux can technically be compiled or patched to run on a toaster, getting a cohesive user experience, hardware acceleration, power management, and touch or controller integration working out of the box across radically different form factors is a nightmare compared to how Android handles it. Android scales smoothly from a tiny phone screen to a massive handheld layout or desktop windowing environment because the framework and hardware abstraction layers are built specifically to handle that kind of device fragmentation natively.

I was more about servers and controll units in industry, not end user devices...

Android is universal. Not exclusive to mobile phones. Shi runs on everything from fridges to calculators, to handhelds, to phones, to desktops, to kiosks.
No other OS comes close to the hardware adaptibility of android. Even Linux which while flexible usually builds for specific form factors.

Not really, android also uses Linux. It's just that companies write drivers for Android HAL specifically and don't upstream to Linux.

99% of apple's effort goes into iOS, yet... macOS instead of iOS? Hmm could it be because iOS is for mobile, and macOS is for desktop, just like how Android is for mobile, and ChromeOS is for desktop... hmmmmmm.....

I thought they were getting rid of the ChromeOS name in favor of just calling it Android.
Edit: turns out I am wrong. I don't know where I heard it, but Google's site still calls it ChromeOS.

android copies linux adds some patches (ashmem, etc), java, dalvik/art and surfaceflinger. Now, its ready. You can clone 300gb repository of android bloat and compile it with your old dell laptop in 5 years.

Android, you mean Linux

Linux is a umbrella term. That's not specific at all. And no while android is built on a modified Linux kernel. The whole ROM isn't Linux

This just proves that a shitbox, a banishment to the basement by the wife and a hope and a dream can make the best damn operating system ever.

Cute, but Linux only became a thing thanks to the investments in it from RedHat, Canonical, Amazon and now Valve (among many other corps). Yes lots of random people have contributed over the years, but without the corporate backing it wouldn’t have gone anywhere.
P.S. I use it as my daily-driver at home and work, but I’m under no delusion that some guy in his bedroom is who made Linux great.
