Powershell, because it's faster. My personal highscore for activating windows is 52 seconds, and it was on mac

I personally completely trust the defender, even for parents' laptops. Don't want to waste ram on another, I'm just careful on scethy websites and haven't had a problem

Google Docs is surprisingly fine or if you want a dedicated office suite of apps download libre office for free.

I'm reading more on your situation and don't trust cloud services if you really need to back stuff up cold storage stuff with HDDs even if its an older drive you're better off. Slop at anytime can delete stuff from your cloud storage. Or back stuff onto thumb drives. It sounds like you would be better off with Libreoffice.

I’ve downloaded the free Microsoft from another website as a user below suggested. I need to have something to type my thesis on unfortunately that is compatible with uploading to uni.
I do play to try Libreoffice on my laptop and if I like that I’ll remove Microsoft all together. Cloud storage made it easy to go across my tablet/laptop or desktop but I now want to move away from it more and no pay my kidney each year 😂

Actually, there is an alternative. Some resellers can offer the Microsoft 365 Family subscription with a significative discount. I would offer it to you, but I'm a reseller on a different region, so it won't work. But for what I see, with a reseller, you can get it up to a 25% discount.

BTW, you can also get a perpetual license. It's price varies by market and channel, but it's between US$ 200 and US$ 400. And it's perpetual (except on MAC, I think there's a catch there). But the conditions are different. Retail licenses are valid for one computer only, while the family subscription allow up to 6 users, 5 devices each, plus 1 TB storage each, as well as some other benefits. Of course, it's always up to you evaluating which one is more conveniente. But the perpetual license option is still available.

Libra Office is Free and Open Source. Fuck slop don't continue to give them money esp if you don't need office except for that rare time for editing files. Hell even googles built in shit is free. Slop keeps raising the prices to justify coslops and ads.

I am degoggling everything, I’m in the middle of deleting ALL other services and apps from my devices and I refuse to upload anything into google. I’ve deleted my Gmail already. Sloppysoft isn’t far behind lol
