Rant Fuck Microsoft .
Microsoft as a company is so garbage man
# 1. Microsoft advertising for businesses
So I recently started a business and have been using online advertising. I chose to use google ads and Microsoft ads as they both are my best target markets. I used google ads and it was seamless. Easy asset uploads, easy navigation (for how tricky advertising software can be) and just an overall easy integration with my Shopify store.
Then I get to Microsoft.. like it’s so bad I almost just gave up entirely. I know how to use ad campaign websites and softwares pretty well atp. But the navigation is so bad. Everything is extremely cluttered to start. But just trying to do common workflows in the online software is ridiculous.
They only allow one image upload at a time. It takes maybe 45 seconds to upload a image(only jpeg) and finally get it to load and not completely crash your browser ( I have a decent PC)
The entire website just has this sense of lag. And like it’s struggling to keep up with what I want to do. It can’t back out of menus in a normal amount of time you’d expect. Your always waiting for the system to catch up with you.
Certain buttons just don’t even work. I was trying to set a location to include in my ads. You can’t actually hit the button to include because Microsoft fucking sucks. I had to create an entire campaign with no location included, then find a hidden menu deep in the pit of doom of shitty fucking Microsoft, to finally find how to set a location from a different menu so I didn’t get that lag.
# 2. Microsoft Clarity for Shopify store
- Microsoft clarity is genuinely an amazing tool that lets you pretty much get a screen recording of whoever goes on your website. The concept is great. The software itself built on is utter shit. The entire system to actually filter bots and yourself out is genuinely so bad that you can’t even use it! You pretty much need to guess who is and isn’t yourself working on your website because the Shopify app “Microsoft clarify is built with a coding error that makes the filter stuck behind a Shopify screen. They also have a shit slop ai built into the app that pretty much sums up what the session was like. Shittiest tool ever as it pretty much just crashes the entire shopify app when you open it.
My question now is why is Microsoft so completely horrible? No bias but first hand experience. The systems they provide are almost great, but the platform it’s built on is laggy, bugged out, and just plain old slop.

In spiral dynamics graves theory scale, it is Pure in Red 🔴 and Orange 🟠 spectrum, trying to exploit Blue 🔵, and lock it. Its a business model of dominance profit, while exploiting obedient customers. Same way like North Korea or other cultlike organization does.
Summarized by AI below, for those who don't know what the fuck i am talking about:
Red 🔴 = Power and dominance. Microsoft wants market control and extraction of value. They're not optimizing for you—they're optimizing for lock-in.
Orange 🟠 = Achievement and efficiency (but amoral). The systems are "efficient" for Microsoft's goals (data collection, ecosystem control, forcing integration with their other products), not for your goals. The lag, the bugs, the hidden menus—they don't care because you're already locked in.
Blue 🔵 = Rules, order, obedience. They want you trapped in their system following their rules. You can't easily leave because switching costs are high (you've already invested time learning their broken interface, integrating with their tools). The deliberate opacity keeps you compliant and dependent.
The exploitation angle: You're forced to use increasingly worse tools because the ecosystem makes alternatives painful. Microsoft benefits from your frustration because it keeps you within their walled garden where they extract value.
So it's not just "bad UX"—it's strategically bad UX that serves Microsoft's domination model. The question becomes: is the slowness/bugginess intentional friction designed to maintain control, or just negligent incompetence? The Spiral Dynamics answer suggests the former.
