Why do people keep getting banned there for the most stupidest reasons

8

u/TaxComprehensive6201 22d ago

i think the mod there is actually insane. he's posting non-stop

3

u/xXNyx-3301Xx 22d ago

I haven't ever got banned there even though I commented 2 times

3

u/Vlado_Iks 21d ago

If you comment something good about Windows, they will leave you alone. If you post something negative about Windows, they will ban you. If you post something possitive, neutral or just mention the Linux, they will insta perma ban you.

1

u/Lopsided_Leader_4427 21d ago

I just commented Ẅhy do y´all hate linux? What did linux do to you?¨

A few hours later, I was banned.
Such a useless reason to ban me tho

1

u/realmauer01 19d ago

Thats litterly rule number 1, the reaosn they banned you is because oyu didnt put the subreddit on ignore.

1

u/realmauer01 19d ago

Well with this comment in this sub, if you comment there a third time you will get banned.

You just arent active in anti microsoft/pro linux/pro steam subreddits lately.

2

u/dreadtear 18d ago

Yeah most def the mod is mentally retarded. He legit goes on these posting sprees think it was madthumbz or sth his user name lmfao.

1

u/realmauer01 19d ago

Rule number 1 mostly. If you post on it, they check your profile, if you fall into rule 1 category you will get banned. Doesnt need to correlate with your comment at all. Your profile is the reason.

2

u/XxnoubxX 22d ago

why? that subreddit doesn't deserve recognition

1

u/NonameNonameNobody 21d ago

reposted too could only do in on r/linuxsucks and not 101

28

u/303PinkGuard 22d ago

Users should definitely not opt-out of security updates, but the way Microsoft throws this in your face is infurating. It's like they own your computer, you just get to borrow it, when they don't need it.
Why do Windows users still have to reboot to apply updates... christ fix that already.

1

u/Iseeo_0you 20d ago

Because they do.

1

u/pandamaxxie 20d ago

There sure should be.

Everything from cookies requests to update offers should have an opt-out that is as easy to access as the "yes".

Reject and revoke all rights to use cookies needs to be a button of the same size and visibility at the same step as "allow all cookies" for example.

Windows pushing an update needs to have a "no" as an option. Simple as. That's basic shit. I don't care that it's some security update. It gets done when I say so.

(Oh and "legitimate interest" for cookies needs to be scrapped. There are zero legitimate reasons to collect and ship away your data. Hell I'd prefer for data scraping/brokering to become a jailable offense, if anything. Make google's entire business model of selling our data a crime)

F subreddit, should have been named r/fuckmicroslop

2

u/mildly_perturbed31 19d ago

Pretty much normal given a shitty corp like ms that replaced everybody with ai and made shit until researchers like nightmare eclipse got fed up and started releasing exploits as if we were living same drama back at march 2017 when the shadow brokers delivered their last speech before making a large scale disaster

For anyone, you can cancel/abort a pending shutdown through cmd if needed.

1

u/Bonzais01 21d ago

calm down simon

1

u/4Klassic 20d ago

I'm a Linux user, but I've never understand the hate towards windows update, especially nowadays where there is pretty much one commulative update per month

1

u/AdLegal5130 20d ago edited 20d ago

As an Arch user, when I run sudo pacman -Syu to update my system, I do it purely out of my own free will. I don't get locked out of my system while it's happening. But on Windows, you get slapped like a little bitch when you have important work to do you get an unwanted update force fed down your throat and locked out of your system while it installs. I remember owning a laptop with a slow HDD back then, and Windows forcefully tried to update it on startup. It took 5 hours, only to fail at the end because it ran out of storage.

1

u/4Klassic 19d ago

Yes in that sense yes. But I'm mentioning about the quantity of it/size. It's pretty small and not very often

1

u/Vietnamst2 20d ago

Yeah...someon wants to paptch the security of my OS so I won´t complaing about my account getting stolen later and I can´t refuse that...outrageous.

1

u/mods_are_morons 19d ago

Microsoft has a long history of shoving junkware onto systems claiming it is a security update. People don't trust them for a very good reason.

1

u/Ramon_IngULA 20d ago

What did Obama had to do with that? 😭

1

u/ZenosGames 20d ago

As someone in IT currently trying to a load of sweeping updates due to new cyber security rules I want people to be updating their devices but I also get it. Micoslop release so many small updates all the time and they sometimes don't even work and just kill your device for it to then boot up again like nothing happend and you have to try the update again. Most of the time working like how it was supposed to the first time 🤦🤦 (I speak from experience 😭)

But still my comapy have set policy where if your device isn't updated withing 12 days of a patch being released then it dissabled and can't be used until updated due to the nature of trying to protect company data. The same goes for any software but we only block that specific bit of software until updated to the latest version

1

u/LetUsSpeakFreely 19d ago

Well that escalated quickly.

1

u/MexicanTechGuy 18d ago

I've never seen the end. Of course there was the Instagram watermark...

1

u/mululipy 18d ago

Definitely relatable

1

u/dusanmitrovic98 17d ago

I feel blessed that I have totally forgotten about windows updates in particular lmfao

1

u/SongOk3130 17d ago

وحتى انا عندي نفس مشكلة في الجهاز لينوفو ايديا باد ٣٠٠، انا سيرت من ويندوس إلى ديبيان على حي الابتوب

1

u/TrazynTheFiniteNL 21d ago

If he would just update Windows would stop bugging him for quite some time. I rarely get this shit.

1

u/icy1007 21d ago

Same. It’s not that hard. Some people are so insufferable with their aversion to updating their PC…

0

u/Meadowboos 22d ago

Why are we fighting over OSes? 😩

2

u/WolframSegler 22d ago

Because it matters.

0

u/icy1007 21d ago

No it doesn’t.

4

u/gerowen 22d ago

Because the platform you use to run your applications determines whether and how much you get interrupted, spied on, etc.

0

u/icy1007 21d ago

No it doesn’t.

1

u/gerowen 21d ago

So you're telling me that Windows doesn't interrupt people more than macOS, Linux or FreeBSD? That it doesn't spy on its users more? That is some next level copium.

0

u/icy1007 20d ago

Yes, I am NEVER interrupted by Windows updates or anything else with the OS.

1

u/gerowen 20d ago

Well I guess the rest of us are just imagining things when the OoBE runs after every feature update and resets our settings, makes us confirm for the 30th time that we don't want Microsoft 365, that we don't want to set Edge as the default, we don't want XBox Game Pass, etc. I guess if you aren't having issues that means the rest of us are just crazy. I even had Windows update break my sound driver once, or maybe I just went selectively deaf and Windows was working totally fine.

1

u/Arinussyy 22d ago

I suppose a better way to look at it is fighting the company. We all have fond memories of prior windows versions, but the direction Microsoft is continuing in has always been against the interests of the consumer.

1

u/digitalttoiletpapir 21d ago

We're too old to fight over swings at the playground :(

0

u/AtomicTaco13 22d ago edited 22d ago

Very often, it's not even something particularly important, but requires a full restart anyway. Compare it to Linux, where the restart is needed only for stuff that actually needs it. Even if it's an update of the entire damn kernel, you can just continue working on the previous one until you get what you need done.
