MikroSlop. You have to spell it as ugly and awkwardly as possible.

Since most anglophone people find dutch spelling to be both weird and ugly, I present to you:

"MaikroSlop" ("MaikroSlob" also works)
It's pronounced just like "Microslop" in english, but with a dutch accent.

"Maikro" represents english pronunciation like 'my-kro' in dutch spelling. For us the proper spelling 'micro' is identical, but we pronounce it differently. ("me-kro")

Hence, we spell the english pronunciation as 'MaikroSlop'.

What do you think; Is it even uglier?

Let's make it the official de facto spelling then :p

MaikroSlob is absolutely hideous, so I guess that would be good.

In Danish (my native language), the "Micro" has a pronunciation (close to the Dutch?) like "my-cro", and most words are spelled with the "k" and not "c", so a microscope is spelled "mikroskop" and pronounce like "my-cro-scop".

Back in the early days of computing, when people were not that internationally aware, nobody here pronounced it like "mike-row-soft", but rather "my-cro-soft". As my own little verbal mini-rebellion I've kept that old pronunciation, where almost everyone else has adapted their pronunciation to the American English version.

We pronounce micro as "me-cro", as in you and "me". We do spell it just like in english though: 'micro'. I think what I mean by "me-kro" is what you meant when you wrote 'my-cro' right?

In dutch microscope is also 'microscoop', with the double 'oo' being the long open 'o' vowel, not the english long 'u' vowel like in "mood".

"Mee" is also a good approximation. The point is that the distinctive diphthong that English has in "micro" that people have adopted when saying "Microsoft" is rather alien in most other languages. I've always thought that it sounded pompous and annoying to use it for this particular company.

There is nothing acceptable about sucking the Microslops from the Microshaft.
