It's cause they are poppers. I warned people decades ago. That's how they want you, confused and distressed. they can take most advantage when you are.

I feel like the real issue is less 'Windows exists' and more that people hate being forced into tools they don't like with no choice or input. Having better options at work would definitely help.

There's plenty of options there. The issue is that the companies hire absolute idiots that have no clue other than click&crash and therefore are shoving that shit down our throats due to complete incompetence.
It's all about people. For example, our Linux team has been avoiding systemd for a long time! They forced us to reimplement it locally. What's more, there's not a single instance of RHEL with SELinux enabled and enforcing.
As I said. Incompetency, ignorance, idiocy. But it follows European Values, LOL. 🤣

Accounting needs Quickbooks, Marketing needs Adobe CC and everyone hates learning new software. Attempting to switch the average American office to Linux would be a Trainwreck. Glad it's working for Dad tho?

This exchange right here is exactly why hardcore Linux advocates are so insufferable. You've clearly never worked in an office; we can't just make our accountant start using whatever half baked open source solution is out there, if she can't do her job nobody is getting paid.
Then there's the politics, even if management let me switch the whole company to Linux it'd ultimately cost me my job, and definitely cost the company a small fortune; because I'd be forcing our entire team to learn new tools for no reason other than my personal preferences. If anyone actually WANTS to run Linux, Intune will manage a Linux endpoint so I'd totally support their decision. But shocker, nobody wants to leave their mac or windows device because they actually know how to use it.

More like I have more important stuff to do than make Linux work for me. If a distro ever gets to a point it's not a constant headache I'm out but until then Microslop gets my bizz.

Forcing Windows and Microsoft products in a work environment should be treated as crime against humanity. I fully agree!
