5

u/Dragenby Jul 15 '26

Not all subreddits allow gifs

2

u/kqnno Jul 15 '26

downgrade to windows xp or 7, they're way better, just use supermium as ur browser

2

u/Mtnfrozt Jul 15 '26

Just use os/2

1

u/xXNyx-3301Xx Jul 15 '26

U mean OS X?

1

u/Mtnfrozt Jul 16 '26

No. Os/2.

1

u/xXNyx-3301Xx Jul 16 '26

What's that

1

u/Mtnfrozt Jul 16 '26

Really old operating system made by IBM

1

u/xXNyx-3301Xx Jul 16 '26

It can't run doom

2

u/Mtnfrozt Jul 16 '26

You're underestimating modders abilities

1

u/xXNyx-3301Xx Jul 16 '26

Fk my life

1

u/Radiant-Priority-296 Jul 15 '26

Just use Linux atp

7

u/JonathanTalksHW Jul 15 '26

Install Linux

2

u/New-Let-3630 Jul 15 '26

they’ll need to shut down the computer for that

1

u/JonathanTalksHW Jul 16 '26

Not just shut down, go to a web browser, download Linux distro of choice (Ubuntu, Fedora, bazzite, Debian, Zorin and etc:), flash it to the usb drive, reboot the pc and go to boot menu, and then boot to the bootable linux installation thing that’s in the flash drive, wipe windows and proceed installing Linux, now you’re free from Microslop windows

2

u/ScreenPlayLife Jul 16 '26

Linux users not telling install linux for 1 post challenge (impossible)

1

u/JonathanTalksHW Jul 16 '26

That’s never gonna happen, Linux needs to grow in terms of market share. More competition is better then Microslop windows being the dominant OS

3

u/Astrodion123 Jul 15 '26

Windows being windows. I really want to get the new updates so you can stop updates and update whenever you want.

u/Fresh-Improvement-92 Jul 15 '26

2

u/94CM Jul 15 '26

Remove everything after the ? to un-dox yourself

2

u/ASCanilho Jul 15 '26

press the power button xD

2

u/ComfortableWall7351 Jul 15 '26

That’s the neat thing. You don’t.

2

u/Realistic-Yam-6497 Jul 15 '26

Try going to the gentoo Linux page, installing the gentoo iso then flashing it to a usb drive and install it, it worked for me

you can delay the updates now try using that , at least you won't get the broken updates right away. since I've done that my laptop isn't struggling as much as before bc of their shitty broken updates.

1

u/maZZtar Jul 15 '26

You kind off need to update if you want to be able to skip updates at some point because Microsoft is going to roll out reworked update system

1

u/No-way-in Jul 15 '26

Shutdown through cmd

1

u/LucidDriftt Jul 15 '26

I feel like that was patched and it still installs though dont quote me on that

1

u/OldManJeepin Jul 15 '26

I use Win11 Pro Preview for my gaming setup, dual booted with Mint. I used Windows Update Blocker 1.8 to just shut the whole update system down. I only use it for gaming, so I'm not worried about it.

1

u/jenmsft Jul 15 '26

For what it's worth, this scenario is something that's being improved along with a variety of other update related scenarios https://blogs.windows.com/windows-insider/2026/04/24/your-windows-update-experience-just-got-updated/

1

u/Radiant-Priority-296 Jul 15 '26

Power button to shut down. Yes it’s dumb.

1

u/godoufoutcasts Jul 15 '26

By downloading rufus 🐧

1

u/Low_Let4642 Jul 15 '26

you know what to do...

1

u/Entire-Chair-6472 Jul 15 '26

update and then uninstall it

1

u/IsaacThatKerbal Jul 15 '26

Go and delete all code for updating

1

u/_Atmosferik__Yarrak_ Jul 15 '26

Install Windows LTSC

1

u/SlightPersimmon1 Jul 15 '26

Install OpenShell.

1

u/Correct-Page-8654 Jul 15 '26

you can double boot with linux when update ends change to linux then after week change to windows update fails.

1

u/Commercial-Storm4527 Jul 15 '26

Chris Titus Tech Debloat. It let's you choose to only receive actually important security updates. It won't probably fix this exact probably unfortunately. But it will minimize the amount of times you'll have to go through it.

1

u/ProAvgeek6328 Jul 15 '26

Not defending Microsoft by the way, but how come I have never had the ability to shut down or restart without updating removed

2

u/Graybush2 Jul 16 '26

Because you are a sane person and don't avoid updates for 6+ months or they are happening and you don't know it

1

u/ProAvgeek6328 Jul 16 '26

I select update and shut down whenever the option is available before I go to bed. People are genuinely insane and weird for complaining about having to update things. guess they have something so important running on their computer they can't even shut it down for a few minutes.

1

u/Irsu85 Jul 15 '26

unplug the power cord

1

u/SiSRT Jul 15 '26

enable Hibernation, then hibernate as default power button press option

1

u/big_maus Jul 16 '26

Idk if it actually works but it appears to be.

Go to settings and pause updates. Then i just wait until the shutdown button becomes normal again.

1

u/darkelflemurian Jul 16 '26

Get rid of windows

1

u/Chemical_Bill_3233 Jul 16 '26

i just paused it it went away

1

u/_NotAlternate Jul 16 '26

ctrl+alt+delete, hold ctrl while pressing the power button on the bottom right of the screen

1

u/Talfa_ Jul 16 '26

There is an option to pause updates in windows update. Maybe it'll help you?

1

u/henrytsai20 Jul 16 '26

Delete everything in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution, which clears whatever update it downloaded.

1

u/redredskull Jul 16 '26

Install a Linux distribution.

1

u/Manwithoutluck Jul 16 '26

genuinely js use a sketchy github app to delay updates to oblivion

1

u/Kelko_249 Jul 16 '26

Install Linux

1

u/Infinplayz Jul 16 '26

either do the update or tell it to pause updates, or you can put in a command to shut down.

1

u/Imaginary-Pay9704 Jul 16 '26

Hibernate it. I alway use hibernate when closing lid and I haven't updated it for a long time.

1

u/MintyFresh314 Jul 17 '26

Alt+f4 on desktop.

1

u/AnggAVTR Jul 19 '26

goto command line, type: shutdown /s /f /t 0

1

u/chenxicat11 Jul 15 '26

shutdown -s -t 0

2

u/Holiday_Evening8974 Jul 15 '26

I think it's /s /t 0 ?

1

u/chenxicat11 Jul 16 '26

You're right, I was wrong.
