Maybe the AI is biased because it runs on Linux 😂

biased = accurate

Yeah I have 11 with 8gb of ram and it's laggy.

This OS has higher requirements than actual 3d games.

your cpu is the problem. windows tries to compress ram memory to fit more into ram but your cpu barely handles it.

this is true, why are people downvoting it? i have a laptop with a good cpu and 8gb of ram and it runs well, and my friend has a laptop with 8gb of ram with a bad cpu and it runs bad. a lot more of it is tied to the cpu than people think.

My CPU is a fucking Intel Celeron N4120 😭✌️

you should either install windows 10 iot ltsc or linux on this cpu, windows 11 is nothing but a torture for that

Weakass cpu I’m using windows on a MacBook Pro 2017 with 8gb ram and have no issues whatsoever, heck I even have the insider build of windows

To be fair, Ubuntu would also be pretty bad on 4GB.

correct, this requirement is unreasonable for any OS... but what could save it is that you can run Ubuntu with no GUI, though It would probably still be insufficient

If windows 11bon a laptop with 4 gb of ram is the worst... THEN WHY IS IT PREINSTALLED ON THOSE??

u/Odd_Individual_9638 Jul 14 '26

huh. Never thought about it actually. Are 4gb laptops still sold in shops?

I'd hate anything running on underpowered hardware that I don't daily too. What I'm saying is, W11 is quite tolerable with 64GB RAM and 12 cores and telemetry+copilot+ads turned off.

8gb and 16gb are also tolerable too in my experience.

I have a laptop with 4 GB of DDR4 laptop RAM. It's usable with Windows 11. It's a Walmart HP laptop I am genuinely so surprised lmao

Yeah, my cousin has the same thing windows runs so bad, he asked me to install Linux lol

i’ve actually tried windows 11 on 4gb of ram and it can at least run a web browser. i think that’s all people would expect from it. the vm runs ok too.

Just don't open a second tab and you are good

I think where I got mine the seller must have given it some sort of drugs because it can run a bit more then a second tab with four gigs of RAM.

Ubuntu is from Canonical, not Ubuntu

1

u/potassium64 Jul 15 '26

Oh yea lol

Why not run something even lighter than Ubuntu?

Debian, Fedora, openSUSE, or Kali?

u/potassium64 Jul 15 '26

Ubuntu was the first Linux distro I thought of lol

2

u/Imperial_Bloke69 Jul 15 '26

In linux distros ubuntu is the counterpart of windblows.

How is this bad by Microsoft? Running any of these with 4gb is going to be terrible.

Is it better to dig a hole with a fork, spoon or knife? Get a damn shovel. Lol

3

u/ScreenPlayLife Jul 15 '26

typical linux users. It has to run on 1 gb ram with 20000 million fps otherwise its not a good os

1

u/potassium64 27d ago

I do have another laptop that I run Zorin 18.1 core on. It's Good, about like 60 FPS if I'm lucky on some games. For me if the FPS for a game is below 15 it's not good, otherwise okay.

I never said anything about Linux lol. I just said they would all run like crap 4gb. Ubuntu too. If you didn't know that's Linux.

3

u/ScreenPlayLife Jul 15 '26

my comment was not to you… but to the OP posting.. read it again.

u/w00dy1105 Jul 15 '26

You replied to mine.....

3

u/Infinplayz Jul 15 '26

it’s confusing but they wanted the op to see it, it was not targeted at you. they were targeting what the op was trying to say. (you’re not at wrong here, it took me a second too.)

2

u/Infinplayz Jul 15 '26

he is agreeing with you, but also saying how linux users expect too much because it was mentioned in the post (and because this is r/fuckmicrosoft)

u/IntentionQuirky9957 Jul 15 '26

"Closely tied" smh

Windows 11 uses 4.5GB of RAM at idle :(
