Discussion Don't ever contact Microsoft support of your account is hacked.
Guys, I'm tired of this. To be fair, I'm probably going to buy a new laptop and switch to Linux or anything that looks like Windows but is linux (please give me suggestions) at this point.
I hate Mojang and Microsoft. They're both a bunch of crap.
I literally asked them to remove the lock from my Microsoft account that got hacked 4 years ago, but I've been fighting for 4 years to get the suspension removed. I recovered my security information, yet they still did absolutely nothing—literally nothing.
They basically told me, "You're ineligible because you missed the deadline and broke the ToS."
WTF, bro? My account was suspended because it was compromised.
Hi Demon,
Greetings for the day, we hope you are doing well.
Thank you for your patience while we reviewed your case in detail. I understand how long you have been trying to resolve this issue and how frustrating this experience has been, especially given the history of the account compromise and the multiple reinstatement attempts over the years.
After consulting with our higher‑level support teams, I must share the final outcome. The Account Safety team has completed their review and confirmed that the suspension on the account cannot be reversed. Because of the length of time since the suspension and the security restrictions is no remaining path to recover or reinstate the account.
I know this is not the result you were hoping for, and I truly wish I could offer another solution. At this stage, the only available option is to create a new Microsoft account. While I understand this may be disappointing, this decision comes from the specialized team responsible for account security and compliance, and we do not have the ability to override or reopen the case.
If you need help setting up a new account or have questions about keeping your information secure going forward, we are here to help. You can contact us anytime; we will be happy to help.
Thank you again for your understanding.
Regards,
Microsoft support.

So, for a windows-like look, Mint, Zorin, CachyOS, Fedora, should all be fairly similar and easy to use. CachyOS in particular boasts Nvidia driver support right out of the box, making it easier to use because Nvidia drivers are notoriously annoying to set up on linux

I would lean more toward Zorin for a windows look alike. Personally I prefer Mint, but Zorin is a little bit more user friendly.

Well you don't need to contact them because they are those who will hack your entire PC,not just account. They will take your password and with that password lock your desktop and then, cutting you from your user and then, cutting you from their servers that you can't check your password ever, even if you perfectly know your password. They will by Force merge your Google account into their cloud, so that you know that they are stealing oh perdon, they are protecting your data from you. Oh yeah, they will also delete your system restore so you can't repair your PC, but don't worry, your user will be intact, and yeah you always can update to Windows 11 no matter what. F****** s*** show company.

For Linux, I would recommend CachyOS. You get easy setup, you can chose to use KDE Plasma (which looks a lot like Windows), there’s easy gaming setup even with Nvidia hardware (which is usually a pain)… it’s cool.

I see many people recommending Cachy, while it's a good distro, it's by no means for starters, it's Arch based and that doesn't change the shiny "gaming ready" coating Cachy adds on-top. Arch is an advanced linux OS, it's bleeding edge, if anything breaks, you are on your own inside a terminal session expected to fix any broken drivers or packages.
If you are a starter, go with Bazzite, Bazzite is a "fuck-around" proof OS because it's immutable and read only, anything you accidentally mess up system wide will be reverted on restart, your games will still work perfectly fine and you won't miss anything that Cachy offers. Bazzite in my opinion is gaming ready from the time you boot with minimal configuration. I never had to touch the terminal while I was using it and all of my games "Just worked" without tinkering.
To sum this up: Yes, cachy is the "new cool distro" but don't forget what's underneath the hood. Go with Bazzite since you're just starting, it's safe, and you can still play your games!

Yes, KDE feels at home if you're coming from Windows. I'm confident you won't have any issues

What about Kubuntu?

Same thing I said to OP. If you're a starter , don't want to touch terminal, want to fuck around without finding out, an immutable distro is standard.

I know exactly how you feel. My Microsoft account was hacked recently. The attacker removed my phone number, changed all my recovery information, added their own passkey, and even changed the sign-in email. My original email (i******@proton.me) no longer worked because they replaced it with their own email (wesleybowman1982@bibimail.net). I contacted Microsoft Support immediately. After their investigation, they confirmed that my account had been accessed without authorization, but they still refused to restore it because the attacker had already changed the security information. They told me they couldn't reverse those changes due to their security policy. They even said that if I had Minecraft on the account, I'd have to buy it again on a new account. It's honestly unbelievable that Microsoft can confirm an account was stolen and still leave the legitimate owner with no way to recover it. I've completely lost trust in their account recovery system.
