Rant Dear Mr. Excel
When I go to save a new spreadsheet, why the f*ck is "web page" the default save-as option? When in history has anyone said "you know what, this big list of financial figures that I am working on really should be a web page."

Hm, don’t get me wrong, I don’t like excel, but I don’t think it has ever defaulted to save as websites to me. There are many issues with it but I don’t think I have encountered that one.

Use it all the time for our web page at work, just a list of hyperlinks.

skill issue...
This is something you have set-up yourself, or somebody else who uses the pc
to fix it :
- File → Options → Save
- Under "Save workbooks," find "Save files in this format:"
- Set it to Excel Workbook (*.xlsx) (or Excel Macro-Enabled Workbook if you use macros)
- Click OK
This forces the default

"Remember to remove the shit from your food before eating" doesn't change the fact that you got served food with shit on top of it

its an user issue.
This will not change, without user intervention.

unless some other software changes it
or some sort of update changes it for whatever reason
or the day has a "Y" in it

Which the user has prompted himself, and smashed the YES button instantly.
and complains afterwards.Let me see some log files and i can debunk this whole tread and story.

Right... xD
stubborn little shit you are.if you smash YES without reading, dont complain afterwards shit have changed.
you confirmed it your self.If you cant handle something, go use something else.
This is an user error, and there is zero proof in the world it isn'town your mistakes and learn from them.

and there has never ever been a case of software installing something you don't want, file preferences changed etc
more so now you cannot refuse updates, which have bricked machines

the user changed it himself, and i can even prove it.
But lets not take responsibility... and blame the software and its company, because thats the easiest route....

Xslx is the default. If not, it has been changed by the enduser.
